Yeah, so I've put together a nifty roulette system, and it seems to work well. Though it's not finished, I've made 80,000 gold in a few bets.
Currently, it shows you:
-how many times each number has appeared
-how many times you've played
-which numbers haven't appeared at all and the probability they'll appear on the next bet (since it's roulette, you can have a 110% chance and a number still won't appear, but it's a good guideline)
In future:
-how many times a particular colour/third/quarter appear.
-probability a colour/third/quarter will appear.
It's also all coloured and prettyful.
I'm considering selling it once I add the extra stuff... unless Zarquan's happens to be better.
Anyone interested?
Edit:
Something immensely weird I discovered while testing. I'm not superstitious, but...

Pffft, who needs a roulette system when you can just BET 50000 GOLD ON (random single number) and win 1750000 gold?

Ahem, just so you know, I bet 5000 gold on 13.
The ball finally settles down on 13 (black).
Suklub, a roulette spinner exclaims to you, "We have a winner! You've won 175000 gold!" He returns the stakes for your winning bets, and hands you your winnings.

I feel obligated to point out that these 'probabilities' are not reall probabilities. On any given spin, any number/color/quarter/etc has an equal chance of appearing. For example, if the roulette wheel comes up black 10 times in a row, what is the chance that the next spin will get red? 50%, just like it is any other time.
It is still an intereting guide, and could very well make people money. I was never good at roulette myself, so I can't speak for the effectiveness, but when it comes down to it, it will always be random chance. Still, good work on the scripting, looks like quite a bit of fun for statistics regardless!

Yeah, it's a kind of... pseudo-chance.
If something has a 50% chance of appearing, but it doesn't appear 9 times, is it any more likely it'll appear on the 10th?
Logically, no. It's still 50%.
However, more often than not it will come up.
It's kind of a chance within a chance.

If you just word the question correctly, than the logical answer is yes.
Based on the slippery slope fallacy, and basic math you can simply ask.
Which is more likely to happen, that Black shows up 10 times in a row, or that black shows up 9 times in a row, for example.

Actually, I have to point out that "randoms" in Coding languages usually aren't really random, but based off of the system time. So, at a specific time, some numbers have a higher chance of appearing than others. (At least that's what I remember my codingteacher telling me about C#)

BZZT! Wrong, but thank you for playing.
If black has come up nine times, then that's a fact. There's no actual probability involved; once black has come up nine times in a row, the chances of the tenth roll being red are the same as always. Probabilities don't work retroactively that way; just because it has landed on black one million times in a row, that doesn't mean "Red is supposed to come up now."
Actually, if a random number generator comes up a particular result very often, that's reason to believe it's in fact biased.
Also, the chances of black coming up are not 50% as is often believed, but rather slightly less - 0 is neither black nor red, and in American roulette, 00 is also neither black nor red. The chances of red coming up are (In American roulette) 18 in 38 or approximately 47.36%

Actually, most people needing Really Good ™ pseudo-random number generators write their own libraries using More Random ™ datasets, such as random network traffic or even better, mouse and keyboard input (Humans are More Random ™ than computers). Which are then used as seeds and run through trapdoor functions that return Stupidly Long Numbers which can be randomly iterated through to generate More Manageable Numbers which are then returned by a function somewhere. Using time as a source of random seeds is really just used when you don't need Very Good Randomness and need something quick - IE, virtually every application except cryptography or systems where you can ask the user to input a seed.
Also, many common pseudo-random algorithms cannot be "worked backwards" to arrive at the seed from the random dataset, and even if that was possible, random datasets are often used only partially or in obscured ways.

Though, the other day, I did the same thing with 10,000 gold, and lost nearly 70 times in a row, and never won once.
Acrune2007-05-12 04:01:40
The best system I've ever seen for roulette was to be 2 on a single number, and keep betting 2 until you'd be down money if you won (17 times, I think, don't feel like pondering it). After that number, they doubled their bet, for another 17 times. And they'd keep doubling it until they won, then started over. Four of my friends got very rich off of it, one got broke. I never got enough money that it was safe(ish) to try it

Yeah, I did that the first time I ever tried it. Been trying once in a while since, never won again though

My system for roulette is to bet on a single number, sometimes based on counts of previous spins that I tracked. I get out 35 times whatever I want to bet on each spin (3,500 or 35,000, usually) and then bet until I win or run out of gold. More often than not, I end up winning and making at least some profit. It's just for fun, though, and I never expect to strike it rich from gambling.

Within a really sleazy gambling room.
An opulent roulette wheel lies here horizontally, tempting those with a taste for
risk. A tall black dude in a pink suit is here, twirling his gem-studded cane idly.
You see a single exit leading south.

You are wielding an athame dagger in your left hand and a titanium spork in

You are holding:
a canvas backpack, 20 garnet vials, a bag of Nejii's shed fur when he used to
be a furrikin.
You are wearing:
the souls of lost children, a pink silk skirt, one hell of an awesome pair of shoes.
You have nothing in the Rift.
You possess 26 items and are carrying 500000 gold sovereigns.
