Ok I am setting this up to make constructive comments about the race and what it is like to be one. This is not to rant about how they suck or some other derogatory statements. Just make you comments clear and what you may like to see changed with reasons behind it.

I will post my comments when I have more experience in the matter of nighttime cave regen

The stats definately need to be tweaked because right now, they are not a viable PvP race, nor a good influencing race. They're just a bashing race... and that shouldn't be.
Hazar2007-05-13 19:13:12
Dusk needs to count as night. Or dawn does. Elsewise night-based abilities will remain ever-so-slightly subpar.

I, personally, have no problems at all. The fact that I got 1572 ego as level 10 was so nice. No problem from me.
Unknown2007-05-13 19:15:54
One. I think the Regen should be underground. Period. No nighttime. It just doesn't seem to make much sense that night would have any effect on an underground regen. On top of that, it would sliiiightly make up for their meh-ish stats for them to have a constant level 2 regen in the Undervault.

Two. I think their Influence balance should be calculated the same as a Psions Id balance. Either that, or make it a special Psion ability. Or, just give them a boost to their Influence balance. A Psionic race should be able to Influence at a decent level. With max CHA buffs, Illithoids still can't influence fast enough to outpace denizens.

I think that just about covers my issues with them thus far.

I second what SAW says, and also move for a at least a point increase in strength (yes, at least). I would say dexterity could be decreased, but that wouldn't really fit with the NPCs.
Revan2007-05-13 19:35:35
They need int more than they do strength, but yea... 2 points of int and maybe a point in str. Lower con 2 or 3 points... also ditch the night thing for their regen. And fix their cha. No one in their right mind will be influencing as an illithoid tongue.gif

Don't raise their cha.. just make influencing for them be based off ego.
Revan2007-05-13 19:42:19
That'll be tough for them to code... but if they can do it, that would be a better solution

I'd lower the constitution a point from Greleag's suggestion, other than that, it looks pretty good to me.
Revan2007-05-13 19:56:41
Yea, those stats look alot better. Much more balanced.
Unknown2007-05-13 20:00:59
I'd say get someone to test the speed of having 200% max ego on the Id channel before asking for a CHA upgrade. If the boost is big enough, it might honestly be better to have lower charisma.
Revan2007-05-13 20:06:55
I would if I could reincarnate tongue.gif

In all honesty, I'm quite sure the Illdrain bonus is going to be a huge factor. The only problem is influencing. If they fix that for illithoids, the cha is fine. Greleag's new Illithoid stats and ads/disads work very nicely. It gives them the PvP boost they need without being overpowering. The fire susecptability is something I would have reserved for Kephera, though. Maybe let them have a cut or blunt weakness of 1?

Edit: look at that... a free reincarnation
Unknown2007-05-13 20:06:58
Yay. No night-time limitation on the Illithoid regen now! Awesome.
Revan2007-05-13 20:16:42
Yep. Happy about that. Stats still need fixing though tongue.gif
Unknown2007-05-13 20:18:47
And fix Kephera males when done with Illithoids. High DEX = useless ATM. Unless you want to give them fast balance recovery and make them tarot flingers like Aslarans.

As for advantages/disadvantages, I'm not sure whether to agree with Revan and make it cutting or blunt or Greleag's fire weakness. What's the RP reasoning for either?
Estarra2007-05-13 20:20:50
Stats will not be changing on any races at this time.

Now I'm wondering what you're doing behind the scenes... dry.gif

It's quite obvious the admin are holding back for a new archetype or skillset which was in the original design file and will make high Dexterity races viable.

Unfortunately, that probably won't arrive this year; Illithoids and male Keph will be unviable until then.

Either that, or they just have no idea of how to balance racial stats, which seems less likely given the visual cues from some of the race illustrations.
