The series finale of Gilmore Girls aired on 5/15/07, and with it went a part of my ENTIRE WORLD.
Le dramatic sigh.
Did anyone else watch it?

Thats one of the few shows that I couldn't even make myself watch. Horrible show. The dialog sounded like they were reading off the script, but were only allowed to breathe once per page.

Shoo, Acrune! We're fans!
I know more of you out there like Gilmore Girls!

I never actually watched it. It was always on at the same time other things I already liked came on. But I feel your pain about favorite shows ending...
Did they at least end it in a way that made sense? I remember when Angel ended I was mad as hell... it was SUCH a stupid ending!
Unknown2007-05-16 20:40:19
didn't see it. I stopped watching a few seasons a go. I'll still watch reruns and wish the Jess spin off was actually made. Hope the ending acctually made sense. All and all it was a funny show.
Raiha2007-05-16 20:42:38
I'm just sort of disappointed with how the whole Logan thing was handled. It was just sort of.. LOLBYE.
And Jess was fantastic.

Druken2007-05-16 20:44:21
I totally agree, Raiha. Rory just... skipped merrily away and had a party. I at LEAST wanted him to make an appearance, or for her to call him.
And Jess was great.

I find it entirely amusing and fitting that Druken is a Gilmore fan.

There was a HILLARIOUS bit in one of the episodes where the Grandmother reads the "court trascript" of the mother.
I'm having dejavu here.
Druken2007-05-16 21:47:24
Because I remind you of the wonderfully witty and talented Lauren Graham?
Daereth2007-05-16 21:55:50
Wow, I love you guys!
I haven't watch the finale of Gilmore Girls yet, it's still tivo'd. Gonna watch it tonight, it should be good. But it makes me sad that they had to end it so soon, meh.
Also an Angel fan, the ending did suck.
When they end Smallville, I'm gonna write an angry letter and start harrassing someone.

I only ever saw one episode, one of the bits was the dog locking itself in the car and that one chick being completely mystified by it
Druken2007-05-16 22:04:31
Paul Anka, the dog!

I was a big fan of Gilmore Girls. However, over time the quality has slipped. It was one of the greatest shows ever in Season 1, a very good show in Season 2 and 3. However, after Rory graduated, quality started to slip, the creator became a little more self-indulgent, doing more "whacky bits" and forgetting the heart. Then I think the fan-base got a little weird, especially Luke and Lorelai "shippers", people who focus on two character's relationships rather than anything else.
Some of the minor characters Rock--Paris Gellar, Michelle, and Kirk. The cool thing is the dialog, how quickly they can say it. It reminds me of Aaron Sorkin's shows. Being one life raise in Chris Claremont comics I love it when TV packs in the dialog.
Daganev is remember a post I did a while back where he responded the exact same way.
Try to imagine Estarra as Emily Gilmore.

Haha. Estarra reminds me of Emily, definitely, but I generally add a nice blend of Babette and Miss Patty in there, too.
The last season was, I'm sorry to say, not as good without Amy's writing. David Rosenthal did an OK job with it, but eh. The finale could have been better.

I didn't actually watch Gilmore Girls until this year, when I started catching all the reruns that were on, and ended up watching a good portion of the series. I -loved- the earlier episodes (actually had be addicted for a few weeks), but I thought the ending of the series was pretty weak, mostly because of the Logan/Rory thing. It was very unrealistic...and his character deserved a better sendoff than that.
One thing that did please me was how Luke/Lorelei turned out, and the very final scene in the diner.

Quoting for the incorrect use of the term "shipping". Shipping is when they are fans of a pairing when there is NOTHING in the canon that already supports it. So a correct usage of shipping would be Rory and Kirk, where there has been Luke and Lorelei tension going on since Season 1.
Druken2007-05-17 03:36:35
I PRAYED that Amy would show us a date between Lorelai and Kirk. He offered so nicely, after all, and she was in a rut!

Actually, I think your wrong, because every on-line forum I see usually talks about existing relationships or love triangles and shipping. I also went by this definition
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipping_%28fandom%29
Which I believe is correct. Maybe in the past it used to be just "imagined" but it seems to have changed over time.
