ANNOUNCE NEWS #809
Date: 5/25/2007 at 16:27
From: Morgfyre, the Legion
To : Everyone
Subj: Glamours and Phantasms
We've released the twin specializations of Illusions today: Glamours and
Phantasms!
Glamours is a specialization available only to the Bardic archetype,
while Phantasms is available only for Mages. It is our hope that these
skillsets will be interesting and varied, and provide as much fun for
the players as we had testing them. This entails a few changes:
- All players with Illusions will notice they have lost this skillset
and have been granted the number of lessons they had invested into it.
Thus, you will have to re-learn Illusions and specialize into either
Glamours or Phantasms, or use the lessons elsewhere if you decide not to
take the new skillset.
- Sacraments and Jewelry have both lost their Transfix skills. This is
due to changes brought about by Glamours that makes these skills
overpowered. The Envoys have been working for some time on replacement
skills for these two skillsets, so please send any suggestions you have
to your guild envoy! We will replace these skills as soon as we have
good ideas for them.
- Sixthsense is now on a delay. This means that you will have to wait a
short period of time between eating faeleaf (or using the equivalent
psionics skill) and when you actually gain the defense. The reasons for
this will become more clear as you discover more about Glamours.
- Yes, Ialie, you could probably call Glamours Rainbowmancy if you
really wanted.
Credit for coding Phantasms goes to the amazing Fain, while I brought
you Glamours and the behind-the-scenes work that has quietly deprecated
the old Illusions.
Enjoy!
Penned by My hand on the 5th of Dioni, in the year 177 CE.
So exciting!
edit: And it had been like 15 minutes since the announce and no one posted this up yet? For shame!

Let us know what you think!

Ok, quick! Someone, before I have a heart attack... damn work! I can't log in!... does the Phantasams spec get rid of the FUN stuff of Illusions for Mages? Weaving colorful illusions, fireworks, sparklies, stuff like that? Did all that sort of stuff go to the Bards?

Most of it went to bards, though they share the core illusions skill (including sparkles and improved).
Phantasms is mostly mental illusions.
Glamours is mostly, well, I guess it's the flashy stuff.
Lysandus2007-05-25 17:06:11
hopefully glamours has some offense abilities right?

Well, at least Noola can still do sparkles and improved then. Too bad about fireworks though! I really was looking forward to Noola learning that...
Ah well! It'll be interesting to see what the differences are when I log in tonight anyway!

OMG, Glamours is AWESOME
edit: For clarification, I can now pretend to be Narsrim if I wanted to, and I can turn my chair into a pink elephant if I felt like it. 1200 lessons to go!

That DOES sound cool!

From testing it, Glamours currently seems very overpowered, especially Rainbowpattern.
Also, the core Illusions skill doesn't have Improved. It has Programmed, but not Improved.

Anyone want to tutor me? :flutter:
Daganev2007-05-25 17:21:21
What does rainbow pattern do?
Morvior2007-05-25 17:23:55
PHANTASMS RULE!
This is all!
This is all!
Ialie2007-05-25 17:27:27
Everyone should remember that I did rainbows first before it became cool! All those people that told me rainbows were stupid can kiss it!
MUAHAHA!
MUAHAHA!
Forren2007-05-25 17:27:38
Someone please post the specializations? I really don't want to waste lessons deciding.
Won't be able to log on for five or six more hours - do both skillsets still retain the basic "weave illusion"? What about wounds? Phantoms? Terrain? Reality? Manse?

Razenth2007-05-25 17:28:25
You can't decide Forren. You get Phantasms.
Unknown2007-05-25 17:29:33
Rainbow Pattern just looks like a colourful version of Phantoms to me =P

Forren fails at life because he can't read. Thanks Razenth.
So... who wants to post the skillsets? Pretty please? I have candy....

Phantasms get Wounds, Terrain, Phantoms, and Reality (not sure about Manse).
They retain the basic "weave illusion" and Phantasms has FalseVision, which is an improved illusion you can send to any target within the local area.
Very fun other stuff as well.
