Okay, obviously we all know that ethereal cannot be melded by mages and water/earth cannot be melded by druids. The terrain type cannot be changed. I have heard several times, though, that mages can still break druid melds on ethereal, they just can't change the terrain type or form their own meld. On testing today, this does not actually seem to be true. When no tree was present, I tried to defoliate the druid demesne, and got a message about being unable to change the environment of a sylvan forest. I then tried to forcetaint, and got the exact same message.
So, here's the real question for the sleuths: is this how it's supposed to be? Was this all just a rumor from the beginning, or is this just a bug that stopped me? Are there any aquas out there that have tried breaking druid melds in faethorn lately, or druids who have broken melds on the elemental planes? I'm curious whether this is a bug and I should be able to break other demesnes, or it's intended to be that way and I should avoid fighting much in faethorn.

I was the one who envoyed this. I can forceflood on Faethorn/Earth and BREAK but not flood the room.

Ah, okay. I should probably bug this then, so this thread shouldn't really be needed. Just wanted to make sure before I wasted the admin's time with the bug report.

Why bug? What's not working as intended?

When I tried to break with forcetaint, I go the message 'You cannot change the terrain of a sylvan forest' or something like that. The existing demesne was still there, I couldn't break it.

If that were the case, shouldn't I get the message about being unable to break through the existing demesne?
EDIT: For the record, it also wasn't illusory terrain. If it were, I would have got something about the magics in the room repelling my effort, and it would not have mentioned the sylvan forest. I did realitycheck to make sure, and everything appeared normal.

Yes - it could use a message. Just saying, it's possible to break - you just weren't at an edge.

Kalodan raises his arms and hums deeply the note of the forest. Around you, the
trees and plant life surges forward, looking greener and healthier than ever

Backwards avenue.
Superimposed over this location, an ethereal forest reaches up to the sky. The
trees here grow along a perfect avenue albeit slightly backwards. The tops of
the trees are embedded in the ground and the roots reach for the sky. Somehow
the circulation works as they seem to be perfectly healthy and several birds fly
by, although upside down also. Despite the visual warning, several signs have
been placed along the road stating that all travellers should stay on the path.
A flowering archway rises up from the ground. A hornbeam sapling clings
tenaciously to the ground here. There are 3 fae knights here. Prince of the

cudgel in his left hand and a golden sickle in his right.

This was a 1-room demesne, that could not be broken.
Forren2007-06-06 02:59:59
Odd. It used to work just fine.
Krellan2007-06-06 19:34:37
hrm maybe it's just Derina then. He's had this problem all the time and comes across it everytime he tries to fight in faethorn and ends up with me hitting him over the head cause I think he's incompetent and doesn't know how to break a meld. I'm pretty sure we were at an edge. it was a loop anyways, the southwest loop with the falconer, we tried to break a little west and southwest of him.
Shamarah2007-06-07 00:37:04
You can't flood/taint Faethorn in any way, nor can you break druidic melds with those spells. You can, however, use forcetaint/flood to break melds in Etherwilde/Etherglom. It's not a bug (though that's not to say I agree with it).

Wow...that's annoying.
I would vote to have that changed. It should be the entire plane. Forren, have a spare envoy slot?

It was an envoy submission that made melds in EtherWilde and EtherGlom breakable, why is Faethorn different?
