Teal dress. No vest, red vest, or blue vest? With matching bowtie, or black bowtie with no vest.

Gogogo.
Noola2007-06-07 20:04:32
Well, I wouldn't wear a bowtie with any dress... As for the vest, I don't know, what does the dress look like? Besides being teal?
Unknown2007-06-07 20:07:39
lol. I mean, shes wearing a teal dress. I'm wearing a tux.

I dunno what the dress looks like, and I'll prollyjust go no vest.
Sarrasri2007-06-07 20:07:47
laugh.gif I think he needs to know what to wear to match his date's dress. I can't really say, either blue or no vest though.
Estarra2007-06-07 20:17:07
Black vest or no vest. Black tie.

You really don't want to coordinate a tux with your date's dress. Go classy.

Flowing robes always work. Black and hooded.

Hrm, I agree with Estarra. Don't co-ordinate. The female's dress should stand alone, and should not require anyone to match. There will be times when you are seperated. She'll look good, but you'll look a bit odd wearing an outlandish colour without her dress to explain it.
Xavius2007-06-07 20:39:38
I've come to learn that matching your date's dress is a regional thing. Ask a friend that one. That having been said...if you can't match it, don't try.

Black is always the safest bet, but it lacks personality. Avoid flamboyant colors unless you're known as a flamboyant character. Grey and white are ugly as sin.
Jigan2007-06-07 20:47:56
Hrm,

You know, you could always wear a dress too. A nice dress that offsets her teal. Purple maybe? Something that compliments her dress, at least.
Noola2007-06-07 20:49:04
Oh. I feel a bit silly now, don't I? laugh.gif

You might think going tieless too. Like this:

or

I've always thought ties were a little silly.

Bow, for she is Dame Edna, and entirely fabulous, and crimes against fashion are sins of the highest order.

I love dame edna.

Couples wearing matching/teamed clothes, whatever the occasion, hurt my soul.

Take the Dame's advice and just go for classical black and white tux, if you have to wear a tux. I'm not a fan of bowties but that could just be my personal hatred coming through.

Depends on the occasion and local custom. Ask a friend (A real friend, not a yes-man) whether you'd look like a moron with a bowtie matching your date's dress. Waistcoats = Black; burgundy or navy if it's appropriate to the occasion and you have the self-confidence for it (Note: You probably don't.) A bowtie is already mildly ridiculous nowadays, except in an occasion where the embarrassment is buffered by the fact everyone is wearing one; calling attention to it by making it some colour other than black is asking for ridicule.
Amarysse2007-06-08 02:43:55
It's not quite en vogue anymore, but I still adore the Mandarin-style collars in menswear. It looks polished, matches the nice, clean lines of a modern suit, and doesn't require a tie.

Not entirely true, I have my one and only tuxedo around here somewhere, complete with bright red bowtie and old looking horn rimmed glasses. I think the trick is to look like you escaped from the 1920's.
Iridiel2007-06-08 08:29:49
Don't try to match a tux with female fashion. Unless you are really really really sure of yourself and know you could pull anything at a party including dressing as Mickey Mouse or something like that. And even then the two of you will look too matched, a bit silly. I lack the word in english smile.gif
Black and white looks great and if you can find some way of not having a bowtie I think you'll be comfortable.

Psh, matching outfits, where's the individualism? You're all heading towards communism!

Oh, right, you can do that too. Look like you're Charles Dexter Ward and just stepped in through the time warp.

First off, BOWTIES ARE NOT GOING OUT OF FASHION. NEVER EVER EVER.

And apparently I made the right call - no vest. It worked out.
Verithrax2007-06-09 17:58:05
They're not going out of fashion because they never WERE in fashion.
