A MUSHclient Question

This is a rather small concern, but I'm hoping someone could help me out.

Due to OOC circumstances involving computers that I'd rather not go into, I'm prevented from having a computer that can use Java for about a month. So I downloaded MUSHclient, which is fine except I really don't know how to use it, having stuck with Nexus for most of the time. Could someone possibly explain how to use the composer so I can write news posts? It hasn't worked for me whenever I try to.

I don't think you can use the composer from MUSH. I've always had to log onto nexus to write or post anything.

I can write posts while using Mushclient. I just don't do it in any fancy composer. Now, sometimes I'll take the time to log out of Mushclient, log in to Nexus and use that composer, but honestly it's a lot of annoying effort, and for the most part, I just use the game's editor and stay logged into Mushclient.

Sooo how does one write such posts without the composer? It seems to automatically want to put me in it.

When you go into the editor mode, use *help to see the commands? Not sure what the exact problem is that you're having.

Me either. Though, if you want to know, I always composed my posts in Notepad with a 80 character wrap so I can put in pretty pictures and stuff and edit it to my pleasure and then just copy paste it in.

The game editor wraps at about 72, not 80. I always edit my texts in Notepad (or similar editor) and leave each paragraph on a single line to let the game wrap it properly for me.

Ok, I figured out what I did wrong. I was being stupid again.

Would there be any problems with spacing if I cut and paste it from a MS Word document?

Why use Word when Notepad will suffice? You really don't want extra formatting codes in your copy/paste.

Yes. Word uses special characters for formatting and things that won't copy over. You also have to copy one paragraph at a time - things just get hairy in general. I made the mistake of writing a bardic in word, then had to try to change it over to submit it to the library. It can be a pain - go with notepad instead and, like Zarquan suggests, turn the wrap off. It's okay to write everything with line wrap on, then turn it off before copying it into the editor.

EDIT: Or, for those zMUD users out there, you can just use Actions > Send File to MUD to send your notepad document and avoid having to copy each line individually. That has saved me a lot of time, but I'm not sure if MUSH has a similar feature.

Whenever I use the editor, I use the game's.

I think Zarquan said this: I type each paragraph onto it's own line. Works for me.

mushclient has 'send file' feature. when you right click on the input box.. it will show 'send file' option. so you can send your text file(rather than to cut and paste option!) over to the mud

just a thought.
