Choosing from Glomdoring guilds

Greetings, everyone. A mage for a long time, now I'm going to change the things a bit. I'm choosing from Ebonguard, Blacktalon and Shadowdancers. What I'm seeking is the strong all-around class :) Being a mage, I forgot when I had fun fighting last time. At the moment you learn to time your demesne, there's nothing to learn and your strategy is all set. That's not what I'm waiting from my future class. Well, enough words, what I'm asking is to arrange these three choices on three scales. The choices are:
- Human Ebounguard
- Human Blacktalon
- Human Shadowdancer

The scales are:
- PvP
- PvE
- Fun-to-fight-with

The initials are:
- Level 84
- Almost all trans
- No arties in near future

Would greatly appreciate any input on the question. Thanks in advance.

Well, the Blacktalon is a lot more of the same of a mage-- you have to time your demesne, but you also get to learn how to time Sap on top of that (and work on keeping sap).

The others have a bit more style/options, especially if you look through the Weaponstyles for an Ebonguard-- but the Ebonguard is also the most expensive of the three and may not be what you're looking for. The Shadowdancers are very tied to the shadows, but with the recent change to cauldron release they're a tiny bit more mobile, and do have a fair number of options (especially the fun of learning how to fight in Choke).

I'm not really sure what more to say-- if you don't find a mage being fun fighting-wise, I doubt you'd find a Druid all that much more exciting. Hunting-wise, I think a Night Ebonguard and a Shadowdancer aren't too dissimilar-- both get Nightkiss, though warriors do get more health. Still, with nightkiss, hunting's pretty easy for both, and nightkiss tends to be more damaging than weapons anyways (less health, kill faster).

Some people find combat as a warrior fun, some people find combat as a Shadowdancer hexen/astrologist fun, and some don't.

I second Xenthos' thoughts. If you don't care for Mage mechanics, you probably won't care for Blacktalon, either.

I noticed that RP or mythos wasn't on your list, but if that's also in the mix, then Blacktalon becomes a much stronger choice given your other parameters. I don't really like Druid combat or bashing very much, either, but what keeps me in the Blacktalon is the idea of it, the RP, and the people in it who flesh that out.

I would suggest ebonguard personally, they're good bashers, good PvP (nighaura makes even un-runed warriors alright) and it's a good guild.

Shadowdancers... Never been one so no comment.

Blacktalon, yeah, more of the same. It takes a patient (or stubborn like me) person to maintain a BT fighter.

If you disliked mage, you'll hate blacktalon, so don't bother.

Shadowdancers are fun; we use hexes for quick burst afflicting with our fae as support to achieve toadcurses (1/2 mana) or damage kills with nightkiss, and there is a lot of flexibility in which strategy you want to use. We also get access to Choke, an ability that is essentially a room aeon that cannot be removed and affects everyone (including you). This allows us to supplement our afflicting abilities by slowing their curing massively and allowing us to sleeplock. However, if you screw up using choke, the enemy can turn it against you if they get off enough afflictions on you! SD is a fun and diverse class. If you become one, talk to me IG and I'll help you get started with fighting and all.

Ebonguard are pretty much like any warrior class, except that they get to choose Crow (which has darkrebirth which basically means you never lose experience on prime, ever) or Night (which has nightkiss which is a nice chunk of damage resistance).

Both classes are fun to use and good for bashing.

if you want options for your kill, you go warrior who have the most options. you'll find it harder in the bigger fights without artis, but that's 1v1, in groups arti's won't matter so much as long as you max precision. I've never been much of a warrior type fighter, never tried it though, it's supposed to cost a lot of gold for weaps and equipment if that matters to you. you definately won't want druids. they're very much like mages except moreso because outside their demesne they're bad, at least as a mage you have psionics. shadowdancer and ebonguards will make the best bashers and fighters. Especially with Night, you get choke, which is a very different type of fighting since you fight in room aeon, including affecting yourself.

It is in the mix, that's why I'm choosing from Glomdoring exclusively. I don't know the guild-related RP details, but the whole atmosphere of the Merciless Forest is what I'm looking for.

Druids are out - no more demesnes for me, so now it's all about wariror vs wiccan, which, as I see, are quite equal in my terms. Thanks for all the input!

Shadowdancers. Good fun to play in general, top tier pvp guild, and there's Shayle.
Ethelon2007-06-24 12:45:24
Shayle is a great person, the atmosphere she brings to the guild makes it all worth it. And yeah, they are a strong guild for PvP.

Night (which has nightkiss which is a nice chunk of damage resistance).

Don't forget the stat increase to weapons, which is always useful.
