Does anyone have logs of the founding of the Blacktalon? I want to see what this Song of Dark Returning was all about and stuff so I'm not tormented by Brennan in my dreams all the time about things I don't know much about.

As far as I know, they don't exist. If you have the connections to summon Bau or one of her alts, that'd be your best bet.

The Song of Dark Returning is preserved, though. Nyla destroyed the translation on his way out the door, but the song itself is in one of the GHELPs.

Xenthos has the translations.

Shazbat Gloriana.

http://forums.lusternia.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=185244 is a link to the dreams they had and some vague translation at the end.
Xavius2007-07-04 21:04:58
That doesn't work as even a vague translation.
Shayle2007-07-04 21:22:33
Like Arel mentioned, Xenthos has most of it. I'm sure I've bugged him for it before. And, as an aside, might be nice to alter that dream somewhat.

Speaking of foundings... anyone have a log of the Harbinger founding or have a link to it if someone posted it already? Please?

Well-- take a look at the dreams. That is the actual translation. (I had lost the dreams themselves, I forgot it had all been posted).

But yes-- we had to go find the location, and after finding it and doing the appropriate thing (touching), we would hear the next phrase of the song. After that, we would get the dream where Brennan "translated" it.

If you disagree with it as a translation, please feel free to argue with Brennan. If there's a smoother translation possible, I'd like it myself!

Here is my theory:

"Azea slorina f'olo Gloriana!" - Crow thirsts for his shadow and his shadow thirsts for him.

S= a prefix
G = a prefix
Azea = Crow
loriana = shadow thirst.

"Melia s'ai doringia helioma!" - Great Crow has many sorrows that the mortal heart cannot ken.

helioma = heart/blood
doringia = fathom
Melia = sorrow

"Azeo moromo l'ai larililia!" - The memories of Great Crow are a truth that some deny.

Azeo= Crow
larilia = Memory (similar to the word shadow)
moromo l'ai = denied truth

"Shazbat Gloriana! F'ai Glomdoring!"

nuff said.

An interesting attempt, but I'm going to go out on a limb at say that Gloriana means Gloriana (as it obviously does below), aze- looks like a conjugated verb, and we already know that ai is either "have" or "I."

EDIT: Not to mention that Crow is mentioned in each line, but there isn't a shared word between all four lines.

Well, it's not really an "interesting attempt." That is the translation of those lines, according to Brennan (though it's hard to see how the Gloriana in one is just kinda dropped without an explanation like Daganev's).

Of course, OOCly, he's gotten kind of brainless in his old age, so maybe he doesn't actually understand Fae and made up translations that he thought sounded good. happy.gif

Except it's not a translation. At all. There is no correlation between the words in the song and the words in the translation. At all.
Arel2007-07-06 03:50:29
That's probably because the admins didn't feel like inventing a new language just for a three line song.

I can do better drunk and half asleep, and I'm going to wager that Estarra doesn't do much work drunk and half asleep.
Arel2007-07-06 03:57:14
Well Brennan took it upon himself to come up with a whacked out translation all on his own then?
