Y'know, as a Bard, I get jealous when other people walk around with companions.
Celestines have angels
Paladins have golden retrievers
Aquamancers have turtles...
I am pretty sure that the other city and the communes have similar.
Can Bards have companions?
In Celest, I thought hummingbirds. We can even have it so we seduce the ones flying around - eg play a instrument at them.
Anyways, not sure what they will do, but I want one...

Just get a mount or a custom pet.

Bards could have... backup dancers! Just imagine: Estwald enters from the east. He is followed by

How dare you mock him

To change the thread, how about an actual productive answer?
Bards getting companions would be a pretty nifty thing, as long as they related to the bard's type of song in some way.

Well Ecologists get them, so the only guilds that can't get companions are city bards
Druids/Magi = Mounts
Wiccans = Fae
Guardians = Half-formed
Warriors with tracking = Hounds
Bards with ecology = Bonds

That's leaving aside the vast majority of commune bards and warriors who don't take Ecology or Tracking.
Gwylifar2007-07-13 20:44:21
And those that do take Ecology, but trans it, since the trans skill renders all the other bond-related skills unusable.

How about puppets that dance to the tune of the bard's song? The moment bards stop singing/playing the puppet becomes immobile.

Do these puppets do anything remotely like puppets from other IRE games do?

Puppets from Achaea were essentially Voodoo/Vodun dolls. You fashioned them into the image of a person in the room, and after a certain number of fashions you could afflict them from across the world. If you got 50 fashions, you could just kill them outright. Vodun was seriously overpowered, because you could do incurable damage that lasted until the doll decayed.
A puppet that dances (and I'm assuming just attacks) while the bard is playing is nothing like puppets/dolls.

Companions that automatically refrain your song for you! Would be convenient.

Or blanknote periodically, passively.
Of course, what kind of companion sings in blanknotes? Answer: a giraffe!

How about if the puppets restored endurance/mana? It would be similar to the bards in Imperian (for the record, I never made this suggestion)

If Bards get Companions, Sacrament Paladins should too!
