I was thinking that sometimes in realms folk use "hours", "minutes" for announcements or reminders. Well if I'm not mistaken, in Lusternia a day equals to a month, an hour equals to a day, so I figure minute equals an hour, and a second equals a minute?
Eitherway, my idea is to come up with Lusternia's own units of time.
Instead of hours, folks could talk about "hutura(s)"
Instead of minutes it could be "yupalt(s)"
Instead of seconds it could be "papu(s)
Months and days could remain with the same. What I don't recall, is if there are names for every day of the week, anyone remember?
--------------
On an unrelated note, I wanted to make a consultation. So my character recently got drugged and induced himself to lose a large quantity of blood and began writing a journal entry. Being weak due to this and under the effect of the drug I wanted to "emulate" the effects of drugs (recalling things I read long ago about MKULTRA and writing under effects of LSD) in your handwriting as well as I could... Mood swings, total disaster of spelling and grammar, constantly going off topic, contemplation, etc. I actually was tempted with using (text) to describe for example places where the handwritting was simply too difficult to comprehend, or the paper was ripped, but did not because later I'd want to go back and having at least a fighting chance of deciphering whatever I wrote.
So I was wondering, how would you handle such situation?

Use whatever you feel neccesary. I would just use something like, " I find my mind misting in and out. It is ha......can....troublesome.....ca..refor...?" etc etc.

Where did you get those names form?
Unknown2007-07-23 00:45:00
Hm. That is a good point. Months all seem to have been named after a God, so maybe I could come up with more Lusternian-centric sounding names for the time units other than just random stuff.
And that is exactly what I wanted to avoid Simimi. I don't want to go "Yeah, okay I simply can't read this" which your example would lead me to conclude. I actually want to sit there and go "what the blazes is a frager? Huh, fates want to what? Oh, okay". But your conclusion is definately right. Do whatever one feels necessary. So in future occasions the more intoxicated my character is the least coherent it becomes.

Do what you suggested. But if you have to be bleeding and intoxicated to write, I doubt many are going to jump at the chance to roleplay with Mugulu, let alone give his roleplay personal validation outside of his bubble of reality.

There's no need for those units - I've never been unable to get by with just the IG units of years, months, days and, occasionally, minutes. I've always just assumed you have 12 months in a year, 25 days in a month, and 60 minutes in a day (and, by extension, 60 seconds in a minute). So you can say "I'll be there in a few seconds" and not be out of character, but you can't say "See you tomorrow!" when you're logging off. If you need to talk about OOC time units, then you're OOC anyway and you can just say "My TF is for 5 OOC days" or whatever.

I usually try for "fractions of a day"-- like, "half a day" or "quarter of a day." Think minutes are fine, though-- 60 minutes per day, as Okin said.
