I just got through an audio book of the Bible and am now working my way through an audio book of the Quran. Anyone know where I can get a free MP3 audiobook of the Talmud and the Old Testament books that the Catholics accept but the Protestants threw out?
Thanks!
Thanks!

What exactly are you looking for?
I use this link for most of my Jewish audio.

If you tell me what perspective of the talmud you are looking for, I can probabbly tell you some good books on it and see if any of them come in audio format.

I'm looking for an audio book of the actual book. I had an audio book, for example, that word-for-word read the Bible from Genesis through the Apocalypse of John, and another that word-for-word read the Quran from Al-Fatiha to Al-Nas (though I stopped half-way through the Quran since it seems to repeat itself over and over, and I got bored hearing the same stories repeated). I'm looking for something similar for the Jewish books, except the ones that were in the Christian books. I'm not so much interested in interpretation and commentary of these books.

Here's Tobit.
It's slow going. I'll edit as I get more.
EDIT: Judith.
Song of Solomon (aka Wisdom of Solomon, Song of Songs, and Biblical porn)
Ecclesiastes.
Baruch.
I Maccabees.
II Maccabees.
EDIT2: The sound quality is unspeakably bad. I think Microsoft Sam is narrating the Bible. Back to searching.

Oh, interesting.
As far as I know, nothing like that exists for the talmud. (its 2,555 pages, normally divided up into over 20 volumes) However, the text that the talmud is based on, i.e. the Mishna is much shorter and might be available., but I doubt it. Jewish texts are not meant to be read without commentary.
For example, every page of the talmud has 6 commentaries written on the page with it (rashi, tosephot, rambam, habah, rebi eliezer, and the Bach.) You can find the translation of the Talmud on the anti-semetic website comeandlisten.com , which is an illegal version of the Soncino talmud.

I'm not looking for commentary because I don't have the time to sit through all of it and also I think it's more interesting to go into it without the filter of some other person. You can get very different commentary based on who you pick for the commentary, so it seems better to just go in on your own.
Also, I'm amazed that the Talmud isn't commonly on MP3 audio book since it was originally the oral tradition of the law (in contrast to the Pentiuch being the written tradition of the law)!
Comeandlisten.com is just a giant .gif image. If it was still up and running, how could they have an illegal copy? Certainly the copyright expired a few millinia ago!

They had the soncino press book, in english, not in arameic.
Commentary in Jewish sources is a bit different than commentary in the usual sense of the word. The main function of a commentator in Jewish texts is to help make you aware of the totality of the text, (both oral and written) so that you don't read things out of context.
You can find a lot of mp3s on the Talmud, however its broken up into little chunks.
Oh, and its come-and-hear.com not come and listen. sorry.
Look up Daf Yomi (page a day) its a learning program where it takes 7 years to learn the Talmud by learning 1 page a day. Its a standard way of learning now, so you have many people who put their lesson and classes online for people to learn to.

I don't mind if it's several MP3s. I can string them together. I did that with the King James Bible, which was one MP3 per chapter. I then strung them together by book.
