So - I want to make a warrior, or at least a fighter with an active offense. I will have no OOC credits. What race should I pick? For the record, I know this is a terrible idea, so you don't need to tell me such.
If another archetype can have a plenty fun active offense, suggest that? I don't particlarly, however, like the idea of just hitting mostly with fae/angeldemon/demesne.
yeah, woo. thanks in advance.

Assuming you put all your lessons into knighthood, I recommend taurian. Very good con and resistances, good strength, no need to spend lessons to specialize, and +2 str from enrage since you won't have flex.

human pureblade.
if you cant get the lessons though credits get to level 80 as fast a possible.

and in my whole life i think i've used enrage 3 maybe 4 times...
Rika2007-07-30 09:43:24
Any negative effects to enrage beyond the lashing out (which does negligible damage, or so I heard)? And any cost to it or anything?

With no OOC credits, Igasho has always been good to me. No matter what race you choose, you'll need to stay motivated to acquire equipment and learn abilities without those credit purchases.

I'm a Merian Paladin Pureblade. I have fun. I do fairly decent wounding when I fight, and with my Katana (Not master, BTW, still working on that) I kill things quickly. So, when I'm in the mood to grind, I level up at a decent pace.

I always thought not having to sip while bashing on Prime was nice...(tae'dae).

I probably am. Enlighten me?
(sorry if that looks like I'm being snarky, I'm not)
silimaur2007-07-30 17:30:45
fae on there own are basically useless, they just provide a small help in offence, your main offence will be night/moon or hexes/astrology with fae just being your small backup
Krellan2007-07-30 18:52:55
in any case those classes require the most credits to have an offense. I'd actually say go monk if you don't have the credits for it. get master psionics, a bit of harmony and focus on Katas. lots of utility in harmony and a bit in psymet. You'll want the thing in harmony that gives half focus time at least, not sure what else is a must have but there's definately some useful things in it. the closer you can get to trans shofangi the better. i think master psionics would even be okay, some useful things in there like biofeedback and psiarmour (which I'm not sure if it stacks in effect, but you can stack in it practice, course that's not useful if the effects don't stack) and defensively, you'll want to get metawake and tumbling, though if you pick the furrikin race you'll have a free, fast tumble. people say the strength isn't enough and I haven't played around with a monk to give an opinion.

Definitely a warrior, if you're not going to be able to afford credits. Mages and Druids aren't great at -all- until you can at least learn most of your offensive demesne effects and at least trans your tertiary skill (assuming your a telepathic/telekinetic mage, Mindburst and Heartburst) (assuming your a runist/dreamweaving druid, you won't get too far without any good motes or doublesling.) Becoming good at Pk and bashing is tough as a Guardian/Wiccan without at least transcendent Celestialism-Nihilism/Moon-Night and a tertiary skill. Celestialism-Nihilism focus more on your Angel/Demon and Moon provides offense for Wiccans, and again, those can only get you so far. As a warrior however as soon as you learn your spec you'll be as great a hunter Transcendent or not, though I suggest being a 1 hander cuz if your trying to level fast since you wont be able to afford credits OOC every single critical hit counts and 1 handers land way more crits than 2 handers do, which skyrocket as you level up more. Also with your spec skill you'll get to access easy afflictions to be able to dish out while Pk, and a knight's tertiary skill isn't too important imo, they do most of the killing based off 1 skillset, though you -will- want to learn Athletics for all its offensive buffs and the tertiary skill for its awesome utility (Drawdown/Trueheal/Nightkiss/Lichdom).
As for races I definitely recommend Human Loboshigaru Taurian or Krokani. Human's are all around great warriors, the evolution bonus is insanely awesome at higher levels and the +2 xp bonus just makes it better. Loboshigaru have a -nice- level 3 health regeneration, awesome strength, awesome dexterity for Pk, and -great- constitution. Taurian have a nice strength boost with enrage, regeneration, and all around great stats. Now Krokani is just a flavor choice for me, it's just all opinion, but I definitely recommend Krokani if your going to be a bonecrusher, they have very nice strength, dexterity and constitution, nice magic and blunt resistances, and most importantly, great RP choice, seeing as there are not many Krokani around. Also Krokani bonecrushers have that bonus with better accuracy in their weapons choice.

Loboshigaru suck for no-credit warrior bashing (but to so most races without high strength, and Loboshi do not have high strength). They're basically a slightly above-average sub-par race...I've bashed long enough in just this kind of situation to know what I'm talkin' about. Krokani are great for BCs, though...and I can't comment with much experience on Taurians.

Would an Orclach Pureblade be feasable? I'm torn between slightly more liking bonecrusher than pureblade, and slightly more liking orclach than krokani (just on concept).

I'd say it's at least better than Loboshigaru. :P
Hyrtakos2007-07-30 23:53:18
i was an orclach through my entire life and guess i did fairly well with it. spent my early years with no credits whatsoever. novice lessons in all skillsets until i bashed up enough to trans pureblade and then it was all downhill from there. get some proteges and win some contests and you can rise up skillwise very easily though. orclach are a great choice with nice resistances and their biggest downside would be their intelligence. eventually you'll pass up the event horizon levelwise and the chopped up mana won't be too glaring. the level one eq penalty doesn't shine through too often unless you're dealing with a bard's hypnotic pattern or some other unique situations
and which city or commune will you reside in? the people you'll most likely be fighting against dictate which resistances and weaknesses you'll want to look out for

Krellan2007-07-31 00:46:13
yeah Hyrtakos is a mean Orclash pureblade. And actually even with no credits you can do fine if you have the commitment to bash and quest. tons of ways to make gold and just constantly spending them on credits will help you get the skills you need.
Shiri2007-07-31 00:48:54
I'm with Krellan actually, monks seem to actually be pretty good bashers if you know what you're doing and have a half-decent race. And harmony and psymet/acro, while helpful, don't really affect your offence at all (except akhang.) It's also kind of fun to be one.
