I don't think I've played Lusternia in, what...almost 3 years? Ihsahn's ~lvl 50 I got quite frustrated with the Order I was in at the time, enough as to leave for this long. A lot of promised God/Player interaction was...well, completely forsaken. I had begun to set up what was basically a big intelligence agency (our largest file at the time was on Visaeris, if anyone remembers that guy) that the God had said would have his interaction.
(I'm not leaving his name out as a privacy thing, I just don't remember...I could log in and see who it was since I think Ihsahn is still in it, but it hardly matters now.)
Anyway, we didn't have his interaction. Basically it got to the point where it seemed like all of my work was going towards complete futility, and I got fed up and left. College contributed to my lack of playtime as well, but besides the lack of free time, I really didn't feel that it was worth it to come back. Like some of the roleplaying choices I had made were just paid lip service and then completely disdained by the higher ups.
But I've recently been feeling a slight urge to come back, and I must ask...how has the God/player interaction changed in all this time? Was it just the nature of Magnagora at the time that rubbed me the wrong way?
I think it'd be fun to roleplay someone who had been taking some sort of wandering break for however ridiculously long of an ingame time it's been.

Visaeris is still very much around.
Ihsahn2007-08-03 16:23:25
Well how 'bout that.

Well, if you've been having a feeling to come back, why not just take the initiative yourself and just go back in to check upon the progress of things currently going on within the Realms first hand rather than asking a varied group of folk who'll have different perspectives on the occurences within Lustenia? Some folk might say to go ahead and throw yourself into the roleplaying aspect so that you might satisfy whatever it was that you were yearning for, and yet some others might up and say that if the prospective idea of your previous roleplaying not being attended to round the clock isn't apealing, then they might suggest to just start anew with some other action.
Things change in time...whether for the better or worse, no one knows, so no one would really know what you would consider being beneficial to your own person. I say go ahead and check things out and make that decision.
Edit: Oh, and if above post doesn't make an ounce of sense, be warned that I'm working on 3 hours of sleep in two days here. Go go...insomnia...

I thought I should clarify a bit on what I meant earlier, and since it was kind of alluded to here I may as well do it now. I realize that that roleplaying of a single player shouldn't be expected to be catered to by everyone else, however in the Orders specifically I just think that the gods should take at least some sort of proactive role in what their members do, or suggest doing.

Depends on the God. Some are a lot more prevalent in their Orders' lives and dealings, and some just make edicts every once in a while without really shaping anything whatsoever.
Keep in mind that the Gods are also admin, so when they're around they're often dealing with behind-the-scenes stuff, which can keep them a bit occupied and distracted from RP opportunities (though they do sometimes choose to take breaks).

Edit: Ninja'd by Xenthos. What he said.

I just came back after being gone almost 2 years...maybe more. I've found the state of the game today to be much better than it was when I left, or atleast how I remember it being when I left. However, I like to have more of a balance between RP and combat, and I think the new guilds and all the skill tweaking/adjusting is a big reason I'm happier now.
However, I can also say that since I got back I haven't had a run in with anything blantantly OOC(maybe I just have been lucky), and have had plenty of excellent mini-RP sessions with people I've just run into randomly.
As for the Divine interaction thing, I'll just concur with what everyone above me said. No matter what game it is, something like that is a completely unique situation up to the individuals that play the divines, as it well should be. You can't force something like that to happen.
So my overall reccomendation would be to give it a shot, all you can lose is a few hours of your time, and if you're not happy then just give it up again. Lots more to gain than there is to lose.

It looks like its a time of returnings. I've been away well over a year myself. I agree with Siven. The dynamics of the game has changed because there are new gods, new factions, and many new areas. The player base is now spread over a much larger basis of play. I have found it to be refreshing and it has reduced my crankiness and made interaction much more pleasant. Give it a go maybe it will do the same for you.
Ihsahn2007-08-03 18:44:43
Well, refreshing is always good. Hopefully I won't be immediately threatened with death upon logging in and showing up in Mag again. I'd at least want to wait a few hours before that happens.
Thank you for the replies everyone. Though feel free to continue with sharing your opinion on the matter.
