Why do banks take a fee for withdrawing it? I think its rather stupid especially when withdrawing large amounts of gold....banks are supposed to be a place to store your gold safely however with as little theft as Lusternia has + other better utility items (chests for instance), when withdrawing large amounts the fees get rather large and cumbersome....I withdrew 1,500,000 gold from the bank and had a rather large amount taken from me

Orly? I thought the withdrawal fee goes to the respective city / commune? So there -is- an economic interest there if that is true.

And having interest would unbalance the game terribly. You think 5k for one credit is bad? Try looking at the market again once people will harvest gold with interest.

Take the amount Thoros withdrew and assume a 1% interest fee per ig month, that'd be 15k gold already. Even if it was only per ig year, I'd just need a large enough amount in the bank to screw over the market.. interest fees = nothx.

I just keep my gold in my manse store, which ofcourse is risky on it's own (I have been considering getting a safe instead).

Not that risky...had my store for 40 IG years or so? Not once broken into, gold's always been safe.

I proposed this a while ago... No bank fees, but banks pay you a very small amount of interest. It'd be great for a number of reasons. Reasons I won't get into again.

The interest rate would have to be something like something like 1% per year, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. Although if they provided interest the fee should definitely remain. Although possibly reduced from where it is currently.

it wouldnt make sense to have interest, as real banks only give interest because they take your money and invest it.
lusternia you can't invest in anything thus no real reason to give interest, it makes sense that they take your gold as they are charging you for keeping your shinies nice and safe.

But since gold doesn't drop when you die, safe from what?

I think the only way banks could possibly be useful, is if you could have gold from shop proceeds go into a bank account instead of your stockroom. Because if you're not AFK you should never have anything that you're wearing get stolen, and you shouldn't keep your gold in your inventory.

Would be cool if you could use bank accounts to 'auto pay' for things. For example auto pay your shop taxes at the 1st of Estar.

Or use it to transfer money to another bank in the Basin if you have to pay an unenemying fee (instead of having to ask other people to deposit it there for you. Of course the bank(s) might charge a small fee for that service).

Orgs / guilds / orders could use them to transfer money to people directly instead of having to withdraw and pay them for a service or bounty or prize etc.

Would also help if I could transfer my own gold to another bank at a reduced fee. What if I put my 10 million into the Seren bank then get kicked and enemied? (Not that I -have- 10 million.. but anyway)

why not use politic to vote to reduce bank rate.. or make a law to reduce the rate of fee? it is nice to RP to force bank to reduce the fee... than complains to Admin about it.

maybe more uses for the bank to store items in the bank and get like a 50% reduced decay time but have to pay a 1 time fee for the space you need make the costs based on weight it would keep people from losing stuff and would give a reason for the weights to be on the items they are.

Now I use the bank system only because I don't like carrying lots of gold.

I would be more inclined to use it more often and deposit more if there wasn't a fee.
