Okay, so here's a situation that I vividly remember from the old Transformers, sans a few details, one of them very important.
Optimus Prime and some other Autobot are standing in the usual rocky territory that makes up the surroundings of autobot territory, when suddenly that Autobot notices an ominous shape of a Decepticon. He immediately warns Optimus and then he (or Optimus - I forgot, but I'm rather sure it wasn't Optimus) takes a shot at that shape, gunning it down and revealing that it was just a conveniently Decepticon-shaped rock.
Time for the question: who was that other Autobot? I am SURE that it took place either during the first series or the movie (the one with Omnicron), personally giving it a 75% chance of happening in the series and not in the movie; and it was one or one of the first scenes. My confusion comes from the fact that I vaguely remember that Autobot as Hot Rod. It would suit his impulsive personality, but Hot Rod did NOT appear in the first series - his first appearance was in the movie!
A king's ransom of geek points and a for anyone who helps me in this pinch. Infidels who didn't like or watch old Transformers, stay out of this thread!

I was just watching the movie last night, actually, and it definitely wasn't in the movie. Optimus is on Moon Base 1 when the Decepticons attack Autobot City, and doesn't show up until the end. And after that, Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime, soo, I don't think it was Hot Rod involved in the situation either.
But beyond that, Iii don't remember who was involved or when/if it happened.

Yeah, I somehow thought that since it simply cannot be Hot Rod, it would probably be Cliffjumper.
The thread is redundant now, unless we ninja it into oblivion! I suggest overall Transformers dicussion.

My roommate bought me the old animated Transformers movie, two disc special edition, for Christmas.
For some reason I havn't watched it yet, but I might do that tonight.

I've seen The Transformers The Movie like maybe 50 times. I honestly can't tell how many, I was just watching it over and over on VHS as a kid.
Seeing it nowadays, it stands up to my old fascination, it's just awesome. And the music simply rocks... Transformers Theme by Lion is amazing.
Anyway, that and the original comic books series (was printed in Poland) are my... canon, so to speak. I've never seen the tv series. Actually I got them lately, haven't got to watching but they seem kinda poor. G1 series has pretty bad animation, etc. - it's just really old, maybe it's too late for me to enjoy it. Looked at Energon, seems all messed up. Not to mention Beast Wars...
But anyway, The '86 movie is a masterpiece, will stay with me forever - childhood fascinations should never die.

Before I make a post, let's see if spoiler tags are working.
EDIT: Okay! So, spoilers about the movie. Decepticons first:
Now, on to Autobots.
And of course, every Transformer fan knows that
Hot Rod was annoying if you ask me. From the characters that appeared in the movie, I prefer Ultra Magnus. Much cooler.
Das ist ein test. Wirklich? Ja!
EDIT: Okay! So, spoilers about the movie. Decepticons first:
Megatron turns into Galvatron. Galvatron's kinda cool, but his lackeys (Scourge and... Cyclonus I think) look just retarded.]
Now, on to Autobots.
Ironhide dies. Ratchet dies (NOOO!!!). So do Prawl and Brawn. And some other less well-known ones. How evil.
And of course, every Transformer fan knows that
Optimus Prime dies. But he's later revived - not in the movie, but in the series. Just shows off that Kickass cannot die.
