Simple enough - what clients work well with vista? Cmud, in my honest oppinion, is a piece of crap - if I can't put a client in the background while it loads without it all out crashing, its no good. Also, I don't feel like dishing out 30$ for something similar to the client I have at home.

Any advice? Thanks.

MUCHclient yes, except for the Help system or files. Keeps saying they are not found. But there are other ways of procuring that information...like here.

I can see the basis in saying CMUD sucks, while during its trial I liked it a lot, the part that annoyed me though was the constant bugs it encountered asking me to continue or close the application, VERY annoying in their frequency. However, it is of course under development, so it is does happen. Coding is not easy.

zMUD only really works if you run it as administrator every time you intend to log or change your code, and there's no way to automatically set it up like that--you have to right click it and choose the option every time. Otherwise, you get memory access violations.

there is really no problem with running it in administration mode though. And I am not sure what you mean with there is no way to set it up like that, you can right click, select the "compatiblity mode" tab and select "run in administration mode".

also to the help file problem, if you want it fixed it is possible. (but not advisable, all of them have online manuals anyway)

I think Anisu basically covered everything. I use zMUD on Vista with no problems. You simply have to set it to run as administrator (which can be done like Anisu said, or by creating a manifest file). In either case, it's not horribly difficult to set up.

zMUD and MUSHClient both use WinHelp. A winhelp viewer was included from Win 98 (I think? Maybe later than 98...) through XP, but they scrapped it in Vista saying that it didn't live up to their standards. They've also banned developers from distributing a reader with their products, trying to force everyone to use compiled help instead. You can still manually download a winhelp reader from Microsoft's website so you can view their help.

I use Zmud on my Windows Vista computer, I can that I have not been entirely happy with it. The client has suddenly crashed on me and also when in group raids it lags, lags as in, you can see everything that is going on you just cannot do anything. Some may blame to computer itself but I know it is not the computer, I never have the problem on my WIndows XP computer, the Vista computer is new, top of the line and made for gaming. I have Cmud as well but until there is a good system offered not really able to use it well.

out of curiosity what do you mean with lags in raids

-you can not type in the command box? (this would indicate you have a faulthy script that is using up all processing and memory assigned to zmud)
-you can type in the command box but it is send to late even though you are seeing real time messages from the mud? and if so how frequent
-your triggers fire to late.

???

Well, most of the time I can get the command into the command box and enter it in but it does not go though, after the fact you see all the commands trying to go though and of course it is not really doing anything. But i have had the problem of purely not being able to get commands in as well. it is really annoying.

That's not actually a Vista problem. It sounds like a script problem, or possibly a CMUD problem
