1/16 chance of skewering a target with a lance, however once skewered the target takes no damage.

Explanation why this skill is so useless? Riding could have some awesome potential as a skillset if most of the skills worked better than they are supposed to. I'd like to hear some ideas on how to make this better and maybe via envoy reports all of our combined efforts can make this skillset a bit better to use.

Not many people have riding so not many people are qualified to make envoy suggestions...It'd be cool though if riding had specializations, since Lusty is all about teh specializations. Like DRAGRONRIDER or BEARCHARGER... dry.gif

ANYWAYS, here are some skill ideas. Copy/pasted straight from the scrying pool.

Corrall
AB RIDING CORRALL
Syntax: CORRALL
By expertly directing your mount to keep between a denizen and the exits,
you will be able to prevent them from wandering off. This will not work
for guards.

This ability would allow you to use a mount to keep wandering denizens (monks, cookies, peeps) from leaving while you influence them.

Carriage
AB RIDING CARRIAGE
Mounted upon your noble steed you will project a knightly aura,
contributing to the effect of your influence. This is a passive skill.

This skill would mean that while riding a mount, you would influence better. Easy.

Rear
AB RIDING REAR
Syntax: REAR AT
Ordering your steed to rear at a unmounted target will cause them
to be knocked to the ground and stunned very briefly. Used on a
mounted opponent there is only a very small chance they will
be knocked off their steed. This requires spurred boots crafted
by a tailor.

Again, simple abiliy to prone/stun (only the stun would be extremely short, just to prevent reflexive standing).

Intimidate
AB RIDING INTIMIDATE
Syntax: ORDER INTIMIDATE
When ordered to champ and snort at a lesser creature, certain
mounts can frighten them with such ferocity that they hesitate
in their attack. The chance of this occurring varies depending on
the mount, but is never more than 10% of the time.

High level ability to block NPC attacks. Might not work on loyal entities.

Graze
AB RIDING GRAZING
Syntax: ORDER GRAZE
Allow your loyal companion to spend some time grazing in the
hills, a valley, or grasslands to replenish its strength. This will
effectively increase the time you can use your current feedbag,
though proper grazing will take much longer than you might
expect.

A simple ability that lets you release your mount into an area of the certain type, and let it gradually replenish its feedbag.

Tack
AB RIDING TACK
Syntax: PREPARE TACK FOR
Requires: leather 1
Preparing a full set of riding equipment for your mount, you will
be able to utilize it to return instantly to the saddle after you have
been knocked prone in combat. The additional tack can
unfortunately provide no benefit if you are knocked clear of your
mount, such as if you are rammed or knocked by rearing.

This ability is important, and lets you automatically remount with no balance loss when you STAND after being knocked prone by entanglement, knockdown, whatever.

Spikes
AB RIDING SPIKES
Syntax: ATTACH SPIKES (requires iron spikes constructed by forgers)
ENVENOM SPIKES ON WITH
REAR AT
Attaching deadly spikes to the front hooves of your steed, you will
have a chance of poisoning your target when you command your
mount to rear at them. There will also be a slight amount of
damage dealt when they are knocked to the ground.

Don't see the point of that, just add your prone affliction or its equivalent and stand when you are no longer stunned...and when you consider the bal/eq time for the person riding, the prone person would be standing by the time they got it back anyway.

i totally made a thread about improving riding. Should necro it, I made a bunch of jousting suggestions. It seems ridiculously cool. and you had a 1/16 chance cause the unicorn is a stronger mount. It's dependant on skill level (also counts favours which boost past the maximum) then takes into account steed level. Currently you can just prone and you can actually afflict a poison if the weapon is envenomed. I had suggestions to make successful jousts or counters IMPALE the loser. or also a skill to joust those not mounted. or just the same skill and buff it so you can joust those who are unmounted.

Both mounts are legendary, and I have 2 truefavours, Amaru has none. My riding skill is way past Amaru's if Truefavours go past transcendent.

Oh god that would be DELIGHTFUL.

I would trans riding if I could train a wombat to maul faces. Tell me that wouldn't have people doing it just so they could do that. Mammoth could get iron shoes and smoosh things. Celestian things.

they do, but it also depends on gods. Each Divine's favours boost different skills. and when I meant steed might. it also takes into account like steed might. like if you would consider each of them as you would a mob
