So I just started college this year, and I was curious as to see what the majors of people among Lusternia are.

I'm double-majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering.

I graduated and am working now, so I don't technically count; but I majored in Technology Education (secondary education, from woodshop/autoshop to drafting, design, some graphics) and minored in music composition and theory.

I'm going to immediately denounce this thread as exceptionally US-centric.

I was doing secondary teaching when I left school, but kinda wasn't good with kids so close to my age so stopped after two years.

So right now I'm doing a double degree in Communication (majoring in journalism) and International Relations and Asian Studies.

EDIT: I'm not from the US Okin, but I completely agree.

If I could go to school, I'd probably end up doing animation or majoring english.

Well, in the course of my...rather unusual and protracted college career, I've had official majors in philosophy, liberal studies, psychology, computer science, biotechnology, and education (secondary biology and physics).

My major was ICAM which stands for Interdisplinary computing and Arts Major. Its a mix of programming computer art and music (not graphic design) I minored in Fine Arts with a focus on Film, painting and sculpture.

After I graduated I took a C++ class at community college and became a "consultant" doing Actionscript (Flash/Flex) programming and now have a job as a programmer, where I pass all art related tasks off to the design department. Go figure! (though the other guys often comment on how good my mock UI is for a programmer )

Lighting Design! For those not in the know that means I am learning how to better point lights at performers on stage, thats pretty much the long and short of it.

I'm heading off at the end of the year, currently enrolled, to start off with an advanced business diploma and sysadmin.

Problem is, I got a terrible uai (60%), due to my bad habit of.. you know, not turning up for tests and not handing in assignments, so I have to spend a year or so at a college that does pathways, get a diploma level degree, and get upward of 85%, at which point I can just walk straight into a regular uni.

At least I can just take it all out in HECS from the government, whee.

But she lost her scholarship and had to go to the community college to study Criminal Justice for Henchmen.

Actually there was a loophole in the credits that me and my fellow coding comrades found out that we get a free Mathematics minor anyways due to the necessary classes for the major. Which is good, because I suck at math.

Currently working at Velocity Micro, a sales executive.

I don't think I'm going to major in it, but lighting crew in high school gets much .

I double majored in Comparative Religion and Philosophy.

Therefore, I am now a programmer and apply most of my college training to side discussions in gaming forums.

I thought philosophy degrees existed for the sole purpose of giving the unemployed something to pose about?

Philosophy would be a great choice for a double major. It did a lot to tighten my thought processes, and that's something that can be applied to absolutely anything. Philosophy and comparative religion...well, that work if you're looking to teach something along those lines.

Animation is fun! I graduated with a degree in Computer Animation and love it.

IRE games aren't inherently US-centric, I don't think. There's certainly an advantage to playing in the US time zone, but that's not something IRE can do anything about. Hurray for British English in designs! IRE games are obviously very Western-centric, though.

I was just pointing out that lots of college systems don't have majors. Australia's doesn't. (Well, we use the word "major", but it's not the same thing as you're thinking of.)
