Made another of my weird alts... So obviously lack of credits (and citizenship) makes it impossible for this char to Trans (or obtain) any specs, but I could probably beg very nicely (or possibly bribe someone) into getting me past Master rank Tarot. Is it even remotely possible to make a decent bashing build centered around Cosmicfire and the few Cosmic and Rituals defenses while still getting some of the utility Tarot like Hermit/Empress and Teacher? And, no, the point is not to get to godly levels of bashing (aiming for around 60-65), just enough to earn me some money on the side to get a tradeskill going decently.
And, if so, is Drac a good race for this? I'm figuring the above-average CON and INT are going to help, but I'm not very experienced with guardian combat...
EDIT: Code was all screwed up depending on forum skin/font, so I removed it.

You can bash to 60-65 just fine with cosmicfire. Dracnari however, is not a very good race in general. The int and con is nice but the sip penalty is killer if you want to actually hunt things of a decent strength for your level.
Gaetele2007-09-08 16:23:54
Int and Con is nice, but if you want to bash with those kinds of stats, Lucidian would probably be a better bet.
This is not just propaganda because I'm Lucidian and every time I see only myself on rwho a little part of me dies.

If you are orgless then you cant rely on power and such. Though you also cant use nexii to get to other places alone. So if you did want to you would need (if you stuck with cosmicfire)....
-Trueshield in combat (defense)
-Healer at least in tarot (catacombs if you can get there for ease of movement to places but hermit might do fine) (Also Astrology is really nice for bashing)
-Defense in spec (demonscales or halo) plus the wings help!
-Symbol is better but understandably might be too high
-Still astrology would let you get bashing spheres if you train it a bit
For race.. yeah.. either take tankier like lucidian, loboshigaru, human (very nice), or if you want speed go aslaran (for tarot), or mugwump for cosmic speed. (As a note healer is a life saver...)

Not possible, sadly. No org = no spec. I'd be stuck at 100% Adept Cosmic & 100% Adept Rituals (I doubt it would it go to 0% Master). I mean no org from the get-go. >_> However, different race might be nice, though I really don't think Lucidian is much improvement over Dracnari... 1 less CON doesn't seem worth it to lose the passive curing in desert/beaches and - having played Xoran before - I think I could live with the sip penalty.
Not another Lobo, Denust has that covered (RP influences my decision here and I like variety), and no way will I go Mugwump with those penalties. Waterwalk nulls natural swimmer, and how many swamp areas are there in Lusty? Oh yeah... Maybe Human, though. What's the attribute progression for a guardian? (at 65, it would only be 3 extra points, right?)
Rika2007-09-09 05:49:09
65 should be 4 extra points. First one comes at 50.

After having tried almost every class, I seriously refute that. As a Mugwump Nihilist with 18 int and a symbol I had it soooo nice. I could kill a spectre in under 10 seconds. A linked astral mob in under 20, tops. Putrefaction helps.

Er.. you can't have no org from the get-go. You can't keep your guild skills (even unspecced ones) until you graduate novicehood, and once you graduate from novicehood, you could always select and put a few lessons into the spec before you quit.

Already done. I was going to write it up as a bug once I figured out how to word it concisely, but basically if you select your skills and quit the commune/city and guild before you leave the Portal of Fate, you end up keeping the skills (as you have never technically entered novicehood, and therefore do not lose them immediately). I believe it might have something to do with the unrestricted use of SKILLCHOICE LIST and SKILLCHOICE SELECT in the Portal, but I was never sure if that was intended or not.
I discovered this whole thing accidentally when Illithoids/Kephera were first released. I was going to make a novie Illithoid Geomancer just for the sake of it, but I changed my mind while still in the Portal and quit. Only thing being I had already chosen all my guildskills just to preempt the instructor. So when I stepped free, I found I had all my skills. But by that time, I'd figured that I couldn't get into the Aquamancers with that char, so I just suicided him.
EDIT: Oh, I suppose that's a concise bug report. Okies, here I go to write it up.
EDIT 2: Okay, wrote it up and submitted it. I had discounted it the first time it happened when I shouldn't have.
Malarious2007-09-09 08:35:49
Yeah if you get spec and leave you should still have it.. although without pacting you cant symbol so the point after thinking on it.. is moot.
so yeah you would want human most likely since you dont want muggy. Although aslaran arent bad, they are lvl 1 eq over human but no exp bonus. So depends on your RP I love being a kitty to the point I wont go muggy without cameo (so I could switch back) its part of my RP or I would go muggy.

So basically...you abused a bug, then wrote up a report immediately afterward to prevent anyone else from abusing it?

I wasn't sure what caused it, to be honest. When I first found out about it - accidentally - I was just wondering if it had something to do with the release of Kephera/Illithoids. Since I'd never known it to happen before, at all, it only seemed logical to me that the two coincided. Things like program code escapes me (otherwise I might be able to code halfway decently with Nexus or Mush).
And yes, this second time is abusing it and I only tried it a second time because I was curious. However, before you throw an accusation like that at me , consider that I've only been playing for about 6 months while some of you have been here since Lusty was released. Now that I'm starting to understand how I was able to do this a little better, I'm sure one of you over the course of the years would have noticed, if you read SCORE, that you hold GR1 while you're in the Portal.
My motivation for reporting it immediately after I realized it was a bug was along the lines of, "Oh , I'm abusing a bug. If I don't report this, Denust's going to get shrubbed." Yeah, I'm really eager to have so much time and money (I bought 15 OOC credits to keep from getting deleted) get thrown away.
