Okay, don't let the title put you off.
I actually like Glomdoring. I wanted to be a Glom for AGES, but left because being in Glomdoring was ruining my love of the place. I love the philosophies and RP. I love the guilds.
So trust me when I say: I am positively GAY for Glomdoring.
---START MILD RANT---
BUT WHY OH WHY MUST YOU ALL SUCK SO BADLY?
Okay, so that's unfair, only most of you happen to suck. And it's probably not even your fault, it's been ingrained after years of political paranoia, emotional manipulation, shoddy leadership, and Shayle.
This is a shame, because I believe Glomdoring could be just as popular and 'fun' as Serenwilde (to use the counterpart). You need to shape up, and both the commune's officials and all the commune members (yes, all 3 of them), need to know about the issue and make a conscious effort to change (even if it means having to cope with OOC).
And "change into what?!", I hear you cry. As for that, I'm not entirely sure. However, you should probably NOT, as Kaervas has suggested, BECOME SERENWILDE. This suggestion is made of epic failure. If you want to make 2 communes that are the same, I suggest you merge them. Rename Glomdoring to Serenglom, and share your eyeliner and glittery lip gloss. At least then we'll know when to give up.
---END MILD RANT---
My suggestion for Glomdoring is as follows (and I've been 3 of the 4 guilds in Glomdoring, so my suggestions aren't just pulled out of thin air): REINFORCE THE COMMUNAL ASPECT. That's all you need to do. Note: I'm not saying snuggling at the Ravenwood will make Glomdoring wonderful. What you need to do, however, is stop being so intense, and try being (generally) more informal.
If this means relaxing etiquette in the forest to a level where human emotion and (gasp) laughter actually becomes normal, so be it.
If this means altering Mother Night's teachings to be less relentless, and giving Shadowdancers special pom-poms, so be it.
If it means giving the Wyrdling a little mauve crevatte, then so be it.
I think generally, the people who've got it right are the Blacktalon. They like to reinforce the idea that they are, collectively, a murder of crows and will support each other. Glomdoring needs to stick together, and show themselves (as well as their novices) that everyone in Glomdoring is a part of Glomdoring, and that the Wyrd will protect it's own. Novices, (and quite a few non-novices) need to realize that the Shadow Court are not an inhuman monster raping the individuality out of everything in the forest. They need to realize that the Shadow Court are people who are reasonable, just, and friendly. The sort of people who can laugh at a joke involving an overzealous moondancer's romp through the trees, ending at a short branch and an unfortunately placed totem. That kind of thing. You can be a selective hardass. It's what the Ur'guard do.
Currently, the only people Glomdoring are showing 'no mercy' to, are themselves.
It's supposed to be the exact opposite.
So please, Glomdoring, RELAX.
Otherwise, I'm going to personally march over there myself, rejoin you, spam your newsboard, and dish out slappings, just to make sure you don't bugger it all up again. Don't think I won't do it. I've got very little else to do.
Also, I think Viravain needs a friend.

As much as anyone would like to respect your opinion, this thread really should be in Idiots!
Xavius2007-09-15 21:24:06
And you should totally come back! The Blacktalon will take you!

OH, YOU.
I'm confused, though, since when do the Blacktalon love me?
...oh, since I said 'the Blacktalon have got it right'?
Kaervas2007-09-15 21:34:28
Yes, because I really want Glomdoring to become like Serenwilde. Learn the facts before you start spouting crap.
Arak2007-09-15 21:38:06
Ooh, harsh. But not entirely unwarranted. Shadowdancers with pom-poms just wouldn't suit the RP.
silimaur2007-09-15 21:40:53
wow i must be ill first i agreed with ildaudid now with kaervas...continue

My apologies.
I heard you wanted to become a 'reflection of Serenwilde'.
Shamarah2007-09-15 21:43:27
"Reflection" generally means "opposite".
Unknown2007-09-15 21:46:32
Reflection can mean opposite or same.
Also, I'd say that Glomdoring, as is, is pretty much the opposite of Serenwilde.
Also, stop taking it all so personally.

Out of curiosity, have you been in Glomdoring lately? The issues you mentioned are already being worked on, and, yes... progress is being made. If you're really interested in helping, I'm sure the assistance would be welcome, but all of the points you cited have already been raised and the commune is making an effort to resolve them.

Really?
Because I heard Viravain ran screaming from the place, and had to be controlled by an ephemeral for a while.
I could be wrong, it's what I've heard. At least, I hope I'm wrong...
Unknown2007-09-15 22:18:46
You are.

He's wrong insofar as Vira wasn't controlled by an Eph.

So she's given up?
That's two Viravain's they've been through. Grim.

I'm more worried about Magnagora than Glomdoring, at the minute. Too many idiots in high places with too much free rein. I'm fine on Iblis, but I'm tempted to move Eilar to Glomdoring, which looks a much more attractive place atm.
Hazar2007-09-15 23:10:41
I am categorically not making any efforts to convert Eilar to the Wyrd.
Really.
I would not in any way be happy to have him here.
EDIT:
PS I like conversion rituals.

You're a bit behind, methinks. The Glomdoring Summit thread (pardon, I don't have the link available) should catch you up a bit on what's been going on.
Edit: The aforementioned thread is here.
