While Acrobatics was designed with Bards in mind, Springup strikes me as a great Monk skill. I recently asked Desitrus how we use it effectively and he said we use it to keep our katas going. I noticed, however, that I cannot use it durng katas because for some odd reason I continue to get leg balances BEFORE arm balances.. and springup requires arm balance. My question is, do any other Monks have this problem? Is it my race (Elfen), or my lack of skill ups elsewhere?
I am Master Acrobatics, Transcendant Tahtetso, and Master Harmony. My bashing form looks like this:
This is the form (and the only form in existance that I have, really) that I see the problem with. Is there some reason why I am getting leg balance before arm balance? Anybody else have this problem?
My stats look like this, for reference:

Hmm. In my time as testing the monks, I think it was said that kicks were faster than punching and punching is faster than using the weapon. I might be wrong though, but I know I'm right about punches being faster than the weapon. Also, I suggest to take hard out of your bashing form, it doesn't do anything to help, at least with bashing.

It's just a problem where springup requires armbalance. It's not your fault and there's nothing you can do about it - you just have to wait for it to get fixed in envoys (if anyone submits it.)
The reason you get leg balance before arm balance is because I noticed when we were developing monks that the speed stat on weapons would be worthless since the form is always as slow as its slowest part, so they made the arm balance the slowest part so you can speed it up. It doesn't really have anything to do with springup, as the skill would still be subpar for monks if arm balance was the same speed as leg balance.

I'm just not sure, as Desitrus uses the same combo supposedly (ppk) and doesn't seem to have any problems with his balances.

Sort of on the same topic:
Is there a way to show leg balances in the prompt? It's annoying as all get out when I can't be sure if I have it or not. This especially applies when I accidentally start a new form before getting arm balance back, so it just does the kick then ends the form, and I'm never sure whether it actually hit at all since the spam is about the same length either way.
Also, if leg balance can't be shown in the prompt, someone should change it so that it can be.

Somebody should submit it, then.

As an aslaran, I'm getting arm balance back waaay before leg balance. Anyone else notice this?
Shiri2007-09-27 07:28:06
That's not supposed to be happening...

Leg balance could, possibly, be a static and unchanged number via balances.. whereas arm balance is faster due to it getting modifications from race. It does not explain that certain people without balance aids can still springup mid Kata, however.

Leg balance is affected by balance bonuses too. It's simply that arm balance is affected by the weapon (tahto/shofa) you use - its Speed stat.
And these people who springup mid-kata - they keep one hand free from attacking. If you perform just one punch and one kick, you still have the other hand's arm balance for springup.
EDIT: Missed Xavius's post. Weird!

I'm using punches though.. would my tahto speed still be working to equate to how fast it is?
