So, about two weeks ago I moved from Glom into Mag (namechanged of course) and I thought that it'd be cool if Mag (and *shudder* Celest) got an attack like Drawdown and Nightkiss or whatever it's called. Put them into Necromancy and Sacraments respectively and then...well...like watch people use them. Make the Necromancy one something like this:
AB NECROMANCY DECAY
Calling upon your knowledge of death and decay, cause your target's flesh to rot before your very eyes*
Hit message: Bits of (target's) skin peel of, revealing the already decomposing flesh underneath.
Death message: Screams fill the air as the last of (target's) skin and flesh peel of, revealing a skeleton.
Please comment (It'll probably be flaming in anyways...so like...go for it)
*sounds like something a magician at a party would say...'Now, kids, watch Billy's flesh rot before your very eyes' *magician does the trick* *cue screams galore*

Assuming this is still directed at a bashing attack, guardians already get a second attack (symbols) and warriors..I don't know. Do warriors need a Nightkiss/Moonburst? (I don't play warriors, so I really don't know. I know that some Ebonguard used to bash with Nightkiss, but I don't think I've heard the same about Serenguard and Moonburst.)
Secondly, don't put your ideas down like that. I see a lot of the new people suggesting ideas say something along the lines of "Go ahead and flame me." I understand the desire to present one's ideas in a humble fashion, and acknowledging that they might not be good, but you really don't have to invite flames (which are by definition unhelpful). If you have to say anything try requesting constructive criticism.
It's always nice to see new people trying to improve the game.

Well...I've read these forums quite a lot and I've seen more flames than umm...well...the opposite of flames..whatever that is.
Unknown2007-10-01 16:06:11
If this wasn't borrowed from Achaea (or Aetolia?), then it very well could be. You get points for trying, but it's not an original idea, I'm afraid.
Unknown2007-10-01 16:13:56
Well...um...what if instead of rotting the body it (continue umm..and err...sounds for about 3 pages)
it....filled them with Taint and (literally) they exploded?

Arix2007-10-01 16:18:23
I've always imagined Taint as a malevolant presence rather than anything physical
Unknown2007-10-01 16:23:43
Fine, in the true Geomancer way, they go insane...and maybe stab themselves (NOT Geomancer)
Unknown2007-10-01 16:25:16
By the way...that last one was a joke
Rika2007-10-01 19:05:36
What would this be primarily for? If just for RP purposes, it need to be really weak. If for hunting/PK, archetypes already have their respective damage skills.
@requiem: I know one Serenguard who uses moonbursts, Athalas, who is a mugwump. For pretty much everyone else, I think you get a higher damage rate using a decent set of weapons.

Oh...well then, let's stop and think about wiccans for a second...let's see...they got Nature Curse, that athame thingimabob and moonburst/nightkiss...while guardians have only 2 attacks Show the guardians some love
Sarrasri2007-10-01 19:20:17
Wiccans only have 2 bashing attacks. The athame happens to be the nature talisman, just upgraded when Wicca is chosen as a specialization. You still use it just for nature curse.
Murphy2007-10-01 19:25:24
I could see a 3-4 sec eq on the skill, but performable off balance, example you could swing with weapons and add this attack in for some extra damage, or perhaps with tarot.
And yes, achaea necromancers have the ability to decay, magic mased attack, does magic damage (I think) scales with int etc etc.

Shamarah2007-10-01 19:31:16
Why on earth would you give warriors a magic damage attack? All warriors have more str than int so it'd be flat-out worse.
Unknown2007-10-01 19:33:14
Then what type of damage does nightkiss and that moon thingy do?
Unknown2007-10-01 19:37:43
Nightkiss and Moonburst both do damage based on intelligence.
There's really no need for this. Not only do Guardians already have a second bashing attack, but not all classes are going to be equally great for bashing.
Well, unless the admins are willing to make Wiccan bashing as nice as Monk bashing. I have no problems with that, no.

They're both int-based attacks, but they're not really meant for warriors to use. Warriors use their weapons for fighting and bashing, the only reason they use nightkiss/drawdown is for the def, which gives +10 to weapon stats and a 24 DMP of resistance to everything.

Not entirely true for mugwumps (or other fast equil races?), but yeah, for the other 99% of warriors, it's pointless having an int-based attack.

Damn..I fail again to the people who like...submit GOOD ideas.

Not until they make Guardian bashing anything but total torture.
I don't know why everyone is talking like symbol is so great. It's not. Better than cosmicfire? Yes. Compares to any of the other bashing skills? Not by a long shot. Symbol's purpose is the defense it adds (however minimal) and the ability to SYMBOL EVOKE POWER BLAH. I actually see some celestines using symbol damage in combat and...I laugh at them. But saying that...I'm not okay with carbon copying achaea. We really don't need another attack either. Sure it sucks for bashing...but with omen and quicken...we do just fine in pvp.

While there are elements of Necromancy from other games I'd love (Extermination, blackwind, vivisect, soulspear, essence..) and decay would be lovely, there just isn't any point. Everyone else gets plenty of bashing attacks. Warriors don't need it unless they pick a rather silly race, and Necromancy isn't a viable "prime skillset". It's just not good enough.
