I was thinking it would be a good combo when I picked it due to the good con/intel and that since the aquamancers are the primary ice users it would keep me safe for the most part from that weakness. Opinions?

shouldn't be to bad.
Unknown2007-10-12 10:26:54
'cept that Twilxo finds it decidedly... odd, and he'll give you strange looks
'course, thats because he hates water
Unknown2007-10-12 22:07:21
I know. We had quite an interesting conversation earlier this week about it. I just wish I could dump water on people without it being damaging or hostile

EDIT: Next time I see him i'm cleansing him tongue.gif

hmm, fire lizard learning the art of water mancy. Not bad, not bad.

The stats are robust and the ability to withstand psychic attacks is a plus!

Emote? As long as the person doesn't hate you and isn't AFK, it might be interesting. tongue.gif

Good Con and non-sucky Int.
That's as far as its advantages go.
There are better options. Mugwump, maybe even Merian for offense. You don't really need INT for offense - staffcasts hurt, but psionics hurt more. Focus on charisma and/or equilibrium recovery.
If you want to be tough but still with decent Int, go Lucidian. They are much better than Dracnari. Female Kephera is a good choice too.

Dracnari aren't the worst choice (that would be the dwarves - they are mostly useless in everything), but they are far from most powerful. What really sucks with them is the level 2 healing penalty.

Don't underestimate the sip penalty - it hurts.

Mugwump eh? That 3x equilibrium bonus looks slick

I know, I mean you could emote instead casting a spell that forces them to scrub under their pits. quiet.gif

But then I get to force them to scrub their pits AND get wet!

The sip penalty is the devil. I have a level 1 sip penalty and I notice it...i can't imagine a level 2.

Mugwumps are really nice. Squishy..but so are merians. Your staff cast is insane...and in team combat your hailstorm will wreck havoc and knock out those with lesser health real quick. I was mugwump geo and you can carve through 7k health in no time. Time your demesne, hit mindblast/recklessness/stupidity with stun...staff staff repeat. It's surprisingly effective.

Anywho...mugwump mages are sexy. Squishy...so get alot of levels.

Here's how I weigh it:

Dracnari- Has a tail. Tails are awesome. Breathes fire. Is green. Has substantial racial city (which is frozen in time, but hey, it's still there!) Has several very interesting characters in the website lore pages, where they are more clever and aware than most give them credit for.

...and while that's all fine and good, none of it is going to help you stomp things though. ohyeah.gif

Dracnari had a gazette which used emotes in asterisks in its IC texts. For example: blah blah blah *wink*.
That sets their "lameness" dial to 11 (range: 1 to 10) automatically.

But I shouldn't judge RP quality of a race here. I assume that everyone who asks for opinions on race/guild combos wants them based on the powergaming point, and not the RP one (not that they are mutually exclusive - your character can be strong and well-RPed at the same time), so I should comment only on that.
And from a powergaming point of view, Drancari are Dwarves lite. Dwarves suck at everything, Dracnari are decent-but-not-very-good at everything.

I disagree.

Yes.

Having been Dracnari forever... the sip hurts, it will hurt, and it will always hurt. You won't out heal the sip penalty, even with regen arties. A Tome when you can have full auto scroll helps a little, but then you need to time your scroll read to your sip to out run the lame sip. I would say do it for the RP, but not for the awesome. You will be decent, yes, but you will not excel at anything in particular, though the nice hp is a bonus.

Well said. On a further note about Dracanri, we would be rather decent if there where more hunting areas with volcanic environments. Noteably Zoaka is great but it doesn't help with the circles, Im not saying that we throw in the fire elemental plane just yet, but perhaps expand the Uv. I saw some descriptions of rooms that may or may not have had volcanic areas, but very few.
