I assumed it meant like metal detectors or something.... if not, I might need to change my answer! laugh.gif

I'm pretty sure the "in school" part was supposed to be after social issues. At least that's how I took it. Uniforms, Electronic Devices, and Clubs in school.
Reiha2007-10-15 02:22:20
I forgot the website (used it for my gaming class), but the trial lets you make a free online survey, which has a lot of options and is very thorough! It might be a tad easier - or if you know basic HTML, you could make one, too. That way all you'd have to do is post a link.

Edit: Bah, after re-reading what I wrote, I didn't mean to suggest your survey wasn't thorough - the website had these nifty little options, type box, radio, or select etc for choosing answers.

huh.gif Although I'm not American, I'm curious! What's a traditional club, and why is 'allowing' others a social issue? For that matter, why are metal detectors a social issue?

Traditional clubs are usually clubs based on educational subjects (whether the subject is taught at the school or not), sport events, year book, writing and/or art, games (like chess), community service, and so on. Non-traditional clubs are usually religiously oriented or have more controversial social/political themes. Most schools require that official school clubs have a faculty sponser, which usually means - or is percieved to mean by the public - that the school sanctions the club and in some way agrees with it.

If some students want to form a club based on Neo-Naziism, for example, most schools would balk at the idea. (Hopefully most students would too! But that's a personal opinion.) Religious clubs fall under this cause of the Seperation of Church and State. Schools that do allow the formation of official religous clubs on school grounds often get blasted by the public for breaking the Seperation of Church and State rules, and the clubs wind up shut down. Not always, but more often than not. Which I think is silly, even though I'm a big supporter of Seperation of Church and State.

Personally, I think that if enough students are interested in a club to form a club, then a club should be able to form. And as long as you don't have religious activities going on during class time, I think Seperation of Church and State is satisfied so if kids want to form up a club where they can socialize with other religious folks well, who're they hurting? Seperation of Church and State was meant to keep the Government from focing people to follow a State religion, not so no one could pray on public/state/federally owned property. Long as you're allowed to pray to who or what you want, or not pray at all, it's all good. In my opinion, of course.

Not quite metal detectors, but, like cameras and laptops ipods cell phones etc etc.

as for the clubs, there was a lesbian-gay club going for a while at the school and the school decided they wanted it to be more then just lesbian and gays, for people that wanted religious beliefs spoken and cultural stuff and such like that. the club holders didnt want it to be more than a club for lesbians/gays/people who are okay with it and so the school had it shut down. thats an example of a non-traditional club

American schools are full of morbidly obese kids with guns who join clubs like the Manic Depressive with Guns Club, drink nothing but soda from vending machines, wearing clothes that make them look like they are members of the Bloods, the Crips or even Latin Kings.

Burn the school!

This is why I love living in Britain. Having no literal constitution document means that all the rules (even important ones like Separation) are superseded by the most important one of all - Don't Be So Bloody Stupid. This is yet another victory for that rule.

Actually though, I was at the NC zoo with my parents and saw a middle school field trip and there were literally, out of about 50-60 kids, only a HANDFUL of people who were a normal weight. It was so bizarre.

You weren't at the zoo, you were at the fancy expensive resturaunt called the NC Zoo, were overweight kids pick out their meal from the animals roaming the place. And yes they eat everything on their plate. >.>
