After only being able to login a few days in the past few weeks I am starting to feel a need for change. I've always been a warrior in every IRE mud I've played, and I would realy like to try something else. So I am thinking Blacktalon, dreamweaving and Crow totem sound really interesting. I don't know what race to reincarnate as, I want a race that would be good at hunting, because that's the only way I can buy credits, but one that wouldn't be so bad at pvp either. I am thinking furrikin, mainly because of the roll ability, this would save me some credits, and the balance bonuses. So please post some suggestion or advice for me.

If you want to do a lot of hunting, blacktalon will be hard. Druids are the worst hunters in the game.

Furrikin are good if you are going to spend a lot of time in dreamform. If you are going to fight mostly in your demesne, shadowcaster faelings are nice (lvl2 regen, faster herb/elixir balance, faster balance is not usually incredibly useful for druids so far as I have seen). Mugwump is also very nice because of the EQ recovery, at the cost of 1 int compared to shadowcasters. They can be relatively good hunters, since they can hit and shield very quickly to make up for their squishiness.

I am a Blacktalon Dreamweaver.

Faeling has been a lot of fun, but mostly for RP reasons. The various benefits are ok, but the real benefit is fast balance recovery, which is not terribly helpful for Blacktalon Dreamweavers (at least, not any more helpful than it would be for anyone else) since nearly everything uses EQ.

If I had to do it over again, and I was inclined to optimize for effectiveness rather than RP, I'd go mugwump.

Having said that, if you decide on Runes over Dreamweaving, faeling becomes a much better choice, since Runes use balance.

Like mitbulls said, do not go Druid for hunting. I hate that aspect of being a Druid.

I'm a Hartstone Dreamweaver, and while I enjoy the RP and group PvP aspect of running a demesne, hunting does indeed suck. you're an axelord at the moment, right? If being a good hunter is your prerogative, warrior is fantastic. Monks are also up there as being great hunters.

EDIT: Forgot to answer the actual question, heh. Yeah, Mugwump is probably best, for the insane equilibrium, but you're -really- not going to be a good hunter. I'm trying to think...if you want to be a decenter Hunter as a druid, and if you're a high enough level, Human maybe?

I am still not fully decided about switching, but I am level 72 right now, and I can reach 80 in a week as a warrior. Is a level 80 blacktalon faeling a fairly decent hunter?

It is probably doable, but mugwump would be a better hunter because of the increased speed with the same constitution.

As bad as druids are, it is possible to use them. Ialie made it at least to titan (possibly to demi?) before becoming a bard.

Transing resilience would help.

No ooc credits for me. The only way I can buy credits is IG, through hunting and herbs.

That can still be done. Krellan never bought any OOC credits, and he's got more trans skills than I do, besides being an arti-whore.

If you are a robot like he is, and you don't mind manipulating people into paying tons for sparkleberry, you can trans skills quickly using just herbs.

I think you should say, "Domo arigato."

Druid hunting isn't as bad as Celestine/Nihilist hunting!

Well, until they got symbols. Now I'm not so sure. Hrm.

Anyways! Good PvP races tend towards tankiness. Sticking a saplock doesn't actually require piling on afflictions really fast. Sticking a saplock does require health above 0. Tanky races tend to have low int, and low int means horrible PvE. Human is, as always, an accepable race for both. Dracnari and lucidian are both passable for both--dracnari would be better for PvP (sip penalty slows bashing), lucidian for bashing (blunt damage weakness FTL), but both have the same general idea. Faeling serves me well as a bashing race because of the sip bonus, but I have no illusions about my ability to stand and take blows. Even with runes, I tend to changeling into human when I'm up against groups or warriors. In theory, aslaran should be a good race, but I don't know anyone who's seriously tried it.

If you're going Dreamweaver, best to either go Faeling (RP) or Mugwump (PvP).

Mugwump Dreamweaving BT are stupidly scary in their demesne. And the fast cudgel means moderate bashing ability, too.
