im a newbie to MUDs and i chose a human warrior. ive had a few lessons in discernment and discipline and about 60 or so lessons in combat so far. theres so much stuff to learn in lusternia and right now im REALLY confused! so what do u guys think would be good skills for a warrior to be really good at PvP?

1) i did a little reading and someone said that a warrior should go blademaster because 1 handed warriors do way more critical hits than pureblades. is this true?

btw i checked out my combat skills and saw that there are a lot of different stances, so i have a few questions here:
2) why are there so many different stances? surely not all of them will be used in battle? or are the stances u learn with more lessons generally better?
3) how do i use stances?
4) which stances are good?

1) Blademaster is your last choice, if you want to be effective one-handed - the word is: go BoneCrusher

2) Stances are another method to protect bodyparts from harm, increasing the chance to dodge an attack to that bodypart. and yes ALL stance are needed in battle, against other warriors, monks, without the right stances you wont get far. More lessons in combat, better chance to dodge an attack.
- stance can also be used along with parry, like stance head, parry left/right leg, more protection and less chance of being hit.

3) STANCE

4) ALL

Also, lots of the skills are good for a warrior, if not most, defenses, curing all come into play.

You ghelp index should list a scroll with the basic lessons you need to learn.
Stances are like perma parries, in which you can say stance your legs, and someone who is attack your legs will have alot more trouble hitting them and wounding them. You want to get to at least stance legs, but later on stance vitals are good too.

As for specialty, I am a pureblade, I love it, I do crit hits but not as many hits as a Blademaster or Bonecrusher, yet my hits are harder, so it makes up for it. But if I were to choose a specialty it would be a Bonecrusher, they have the best low end attacks, such as stuns and knockdowns, which are really good ways to defeat people.

ok bonecrusher it is!

5) how do i know what stance to use in what situation or against what enemy?

6) must i only go into a stance when im about to fight?

7) will i get better at a stance if i use it more?

i thought of getting some skills in riding so that i could buy a horse. do u think that would be good for PvP or not?

amarok i know that u said all skills are good for a warrior but remember im a total newbie so i have no clue. im looking for skills that will make me tougher both damage and defence wise

Mainly stance legs parry head, or stance head parry legs is all you need, since most fighters go for legs (knockdowns) and head for decap, bashbrains.

But the problem with a stance system is that you will want to be able to change it on the fly, example if Thoros sees how your stancing works, he will go around it. And hit you in the chest while your legs are stanced, so if you set up aliases to switch it on the fly, like when wounds build to like 800-900 make your system stance the area, while you are healing it up.

First, please write "you" and not "u". It hurts my eyes.

Ok, let's go with the questions.
One-handers deal less damage per strike, but since they hit twice they have twice the chance for a critical - it evens out, but due to the fact that an enemy's health is limited, one handers have an advantage. It is, however, very small.
Note that criticals don't work in PvP, only in PvE. Bonecrusher is considered the best PvP specialisation.

Stances are changed on the fly, just like parrying. If you stance a bodypart, it will be less likely to get hit. A stance's effectiveness is dependent only on your rank in Combat - you do not have to practice them in any way. Stances work only in PvP, and only on attacks that hit bodyparts - that is, those from Monks and Warriors.

You don't have to have a stance all the time, and a stance won't help you in any way if you're not fighting a Warrior/Monk, but stances themselves have no upkeep - it's just another defense. So I don't see why not to have one active most of the time, if you think you're going to fight some other players.

Riding is useless. Don't buy a horse unless you want to Trans the skill (reach the highest rank, I mean - and you will have many skills that are far more important and useful to trans first), which will allow you to Trample enemies (if they're prone, breaks all their limbs) and use flying mounts. Generally, I wouldn't hassle.
