I'm looking at either nihilists or Shadowdancers. I can't buy any ooc credits anytime soon and would like to have at least semi interesting pvp at an earlyish time. Also which race would be nice.

Thanks

You're not gonna get any interesting PvP early in either of those guilds. Nihilists would be the better bet, but not by much. For cheaper combat you more need to go bard/monk/warrior.

While you can get involved in PvP at any time, you'll need the following guildskills to have any real strategy in PvP:
Fabled in Night (up to Choke)
Fabled in Wicca (up to Redcap)
Doublewhammy in Hexes (Fabled?)/Constellation in Astrology (Trans)/Neurosis aura in Healing

You will, of course, need tri-trans for higher tier combat.
Shamarah2007-10-20 01:11:59
And by fabled in night, Synl (Salvation) means trans in night, and by fabled in wicca, he means trans in wicca.

Fair enough. Replace 'real strategy' with 'the most basic of strategies to get a taste of PvP' in my original post.

For the Nihilists, you could try to kill someone with torture at virtuoso Nihilism and some tarot.
Shamarah2007-10-20 01:48:03
Don't be silly, no one dies to torture D: (or if they do they just need more health)
Unknown2007-10-20 02:05:28
Try is the opperative word there. He could kill people with the same amount of lessons.

Warrior? Ha-ha-ha.

Fair warning, Warriors are the most expensive (gold and credits) to set up. If you really want to try a warrior, become a bonecrusher. We get the bulk of our good stuff at relatively low levels. But I realllly wouldn't recommend it unless he can get to trans, and trans combat so he can actually hit someone else who has trans combat. Which he can't.
Shiri2007-10-20 04:38:52
All you need for warriors is trans knighthood to fight interestingly. You need trans shofangi/tahtetso for monks and trans, uh, glamours for bards (or close.)

Warriors aren't more expensive than either of those.

Nihilists and wiccans most certainly are.
Unknown2007-10-20 05:06:03
uh please don't listen to anyone that says Nihilist. If you are not tri trans.....you will not kill anyone with decent curing as Nihilist. Even at trans good cureers incredibly difficult. Just no. No credits? Go bard....or geomancer mugwump with staffcast
Ildaudid2007-10-20 07:11:12
You can kill people with tarot alone, (not probable, but possible) and actually I don't think Torak was even tri-trans as a Nihilist, yet ask anyone who are considered high end combatants, he could take omnitrans people down quick and kill most people with what little skills he had. Its all about using the skills you have to the best advantage you can, and thinking outside of the box.

The man just didn't have trans tarot like that made a diffrence since World tarot is useless. Your not killing anyone as a Nihilist without Trans Nihilism and at least soulless in tarot if you go that route. Don't need to trans necromancy but its a plus.
Arvont2007-10-20 13:26:03
Go Mugwump/Faeling bard w/ Glamours. Colorburst+skill that increases Magic damage is sweet. Mugwump is fast but squishy, faeling is slightly slower (still fast, though!) but can survive better than Mugwump.

He is, however, not going to hit anything with inept combat. Well, I suppose he might hit someone with expert or lower.

I'm a warrior... and it's freaking expensive to do anything. On the other hand, I also play an Aquamancer... and it's much, much, much cheaper, as well as much easier to make money as an Enchanter.

I love my warrior... I love the RP of being in a army-type guild... but, it's very very financially overwhelming. And I'm still dealing with that, just to warn you. wink.gif

This man speaks the truth. Minus the world tarot being useless. I use it to mess with newbies some time.

And torture is nice if they are aeoned. Bleeding out the wazoo if you do it twice.
Malarious2007-10-25 02:21:04
Really how many lessons a Nihilist needs is based on race and practice. I used torture to slay same tier at the time (This is without any trans skills). Torak would say you need trans nihilism and aeon at least if not also enigma. Necro is more for omen, putre, and if oyu take up sacrifice or soulless.

In short... can you kill with lowish skills? Yes. Will is be easy? Not so much.

Refer to examples such as Sferys who practiced damage kills and did just fine with them.

Nihilism is likely most important so you can get archdemon, scourge, and wrack. With those then you want some tarot or astrology lessons. I like astro but it wont give you realiable aeon or hangedman or the same utility. It gives spheres and interesting fights though.

Definetely go bard. Not only is it the cheapest (credit-wise) way to get into combat with ease, but you'll also be able to play a support role (making you useful in large-scale battles even with minimal skill) AND you'll have awesome bashing. Not to mention bards are just so cool. It's a win-win-win-win situation!

Also on the topic of cheapness, bards can regenerate their health/ego/possibly mana depending on your org specialization, so you can also save on healing/mana/bromide potions! It's SO GREAT!
