This...just kinda irritates me. Why didn't they just do the normal thing and let it die on it's own? You know, place bets and play cards waiting for it to die naturally?
...and I'd imagine the NSF just renewed the Principle Investigator's grant for the next five years until they find another clam. Yay for Science!
