Okay, I like J-pop simply because it's catchy even though I don't understand most of it.
The reasons of liking it is:
1.) Comes from an anime you like so much?
2.) Its tunes and beats are catchy
3.) I sometimes imagine some anime opening whenever I hear one
So, what do you guys think of this? You listen to the same reasons I have I listed above or something else?
Currently, I like this cause of its salsa feel into it. (and the girl is cute too)

1, and 2. And not understanding most of it is an advantage, not a disadvantage. Most lyrics in languages I can understand make me cringe, so the fact I can't hear the (equally terrible; I've looked them up) Japanese lyrics is a blessing.
Though I also find Japanese to just sound nicer than European languages. All the syllables are more distinct and it just sounds more well-defined.

Ah, J-Pop. Its awesome. It's more artistic. It almost always has a nice beat. They use it for animes, tc shows, and movies. Most of the Artists are just that.. Artists. I mean.. take a look at Ali Project. This woman is freaking awesome.. and a bit freakish.. but you just don't see things like this anywhere else. To me that is just awesome. This is my favorite song by her. It's from Kaibutsu Oujo (Monster Princess)
Also, I'll be studying Japanese in college.
Those are my reasons for liking it.

J-pop... is very cutsey, or soft. I don't know much about music, so I can't describe it, but a lot of its Rock and Rap or whatever is... soft. (I personally prefer traditional-ish Okinawa music myself.)

While I can understand why someone would like anime, I cannot understand how anybody would like Japanese pop music (Or any poppish sort of music, for that matter). Techno and pop are basically music for the tone-deaf.

I prefer putting in the effort to find musicians that can write lyrics as well as music, so...

There's one j-pop song i like just because it's catchy, then there are some from animes which are just hilarious because they're all in japanese except for one phrase in english

Sounds like far too much effort to me when I can just download the j-pop from Gendou or something after watching it on an anime, if I enjoyed it there. Your way is perfectly good too though!
@ Veonira: I hate when they do that, which is far too much

Since when do the masses like stuff for any reason other than "it's catchy" (i.e. techno, pop, rap, country)?
Not that that's a particularly bad thing, you snob.

._.
Am I the only one who likes JPOP for it being meaningful?
Check out the lyrics for "Dream To New World" by Miki.
Or maybe check out "Paradox" by W-inds.
What about "Tears I've Cried" by Siam Shade?
... only because it's catchy... tsk...

How many people listen to music because it's "meaningful" in the first place? I listen to music while I'm doing something else, not as a standard activity.
I generally have a lot of trouble pulling lyrics out of songs, so I tend to listen to the tune. I'm a bit of a trancer, so j-pop, on the rare occasion I listen to it, is always fairly good music. Nice, fast and techy. (On the other hand, I'm sitting here listening to e-nomine as I read, which is in a mix of german and latin, but I can pluck the lyrics out perfectly, just not speak either language. Bah.)
I'm kind of curious what Verithrax actually does like. You just seem to think everything is beneath you. Please, give me a list.

Ah, let me pull out an updated playlist (Not representative of everything I've enjoyed, but what I currently use as background music):
Spoon, They Might be Giants, the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, the Decemberists, Stephen Lynch, the Portal end credits song. That's just the more recent stuff which I haven't listened to death yet; in previous times (And more occasionally nowadays) I've enjoyed Joe Satriani, Bob Dylan, Led, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Jethro Tull, and Rush. And then there's all the bands and artists by which I only have a couple of tracks. I also enjoy classical music, but that rarely works as a background to doing something; it's best appreciated when you can completely focus on it.
