hrm, well, Sarie really managed to screw things up this time. Sarie is rather a stubborn yet shall we say easily influenced type personality. She emits a rather innocence on the outward but definitely is not on the inward. Anyway, she has been lucky as she was able to hook up with some excellent RP from the very beginning of her life and it was awesomely a blast. And is definitely an RP type character, not a combat character
Sarie, is also a Nihilist to the bone. She loves the dark side, though she is pulled and drawn to a lighter side now and then through a forbidden relationship that is not to be it does not look like. She loves the dark rituals and all that goes with it, she lives breathes and feeds on it. However, as a younger girl she had been brainwashed and experimented on that left her vulnerable to the words and influences of another within her guild. This, on top of the fact that she is rather, shall we say frustrated with the lack of movement within her guild, the feeling of stagnancy and the fear of losing this person she has admired from the days of her entry into the city, she quit the Nihilists, under influence, and joined the Cacophony.
The problem is, she is not a bard, does not want to be a bard and is not creative in that way at all. Plus, Sarie rather enjoys pushing her father's buttons and "innocently" is always doing things to enrage him. Well her whole family is practically in the Cacophony and that is just too close for her. It does NOT work well with her RP. It was funny, last night when I quit the Nihilist guild, I literally felt like I was killing sarie and what she was, that she turned her back on all that made her Sarie.
So, now, I have taken the lesson loss, which is gonna be hell to get back unless Santa is very good me, and quit the Cacophony. Sarie is not a groveller so she won't be going back to the Nihilists, but is thinking perhaps this is the time to move on. She had thought possibly BlackTalon but isn't sure, plus the fact that her brother may be making a change to the Glom and doesn't want to seem like she is following him either as there is absolutely no connection there, just bad timing and bad judgment on my part. However, from what I've read, it seems like perhaps she could make that guild fit into her wierd dark side, maybe I don't know, and of course she could adjust herself somewhat, but she definitely is not a completely for the Good side or Light side at all. While she isn't evil, she is twisted in a wierd way.
So right now, she is sitting in her room trying to figure out how to get herself out of this corner she finds herself in as she cannot even hunt or bash at the moment and is pretty defenseless.
Any ideas how she can save herself or move on. She has definitely with this broken all ties with her being heavily influenced so that is no longer an issue, this rather set her free in a way.

Some initial thoughts that come to me:
- Is going back to the Nihilists truly out of the question? I hear what you're saying about not being a groveler, etc., but it also seems like just a little thing you'd have to fudge temporarily which might be worth it if you end up having more fun and character depth as a Nihilist. I'm all for the preservation of RP integrity, but if you have to fuzz it a bit for the sake of your own long term fun, or better RP in the future, it'd certainly be worth it.
- There are some d'Murani in the Geomancers as well, but not quite as many, and there are more people to dilute that aspect of it. Migrating to the Geos might be less of a radical change for a Nihilist than, say, Blacktalon. Which leads me to....
- It would be great to have you in Blacktalon, and the Glomdoring line of d'Murani could use some extra staffing, to be sure, and it'd probably land you a permanent room at Rosegate, too. Although, Shadowdancers might be closer to Nihilists than Blacktalon would be. If you decide to migrate, though, make sure it works for your character concept. Moving from Taint to Wyrd requires only a marginal shift of worldview, but moving from pro-City to pro-Nature would certainly be a much larger shift. I have some thoughts in that regard, too, but we can talk more about that if this option becomes more likely as you think through it.

Thanks for the input, Shadowdancers is out for the familial reason mentioned above, her brother may consider that, may not, but she can't seem to be following him at all, Glomdoring is a big place though, and geo nawww she really really is hardcore hrmm something and doesn't see herself as geo either. I did some studying on BlackTalon last night and could see her going that way and could perhaps even come up with a good rp reason to do so, and I personally have prior druid experience and she never was really super big on city, I mean she defended when she could and all but really has not hug draw to needing to stay in the city.
hrm, I'll just have to think about it. She is an awesome character for me, Sarie rather from the beginning was used as a tool for others RP, and never got a chance to develop her own, so I'd like to give her that chance if I can do so.
Going back, maybe not 100% out of the question, but Sarie has had a hard time with the direction and lack there of of the guild for a couple of years now and isn't seeing it do much changing, though she could just ritual her little heart out and not worry about advancing in the guild. *sigh*
I need coffee, this is too much thinking for this early.

Just a question, but if she's really frustrated with the lack of direction in the guild - but it's the guild she's most attached to (and it just seemed from the way you described it, that it is), why not try to work her into a position where she can start effecting some change instead of giving up on the guild altogether? Course, if you're really just wanting to go to Glomdoring, then a lack of direction in the Nihilists is as good a reason as any. Though have you thought about how you're gonna explain the complete change of what Sarie follows? Cause, going from worshiping the Demon Lords to worshiping Nature Spirits is kind of a big leap.
For example, Noola's change from New Celest to Magnagora was prompted OOCly, cause I needed a change and wanted a fresh start with Noola, but I've tried to make sure that it makes sense ICly as much as possible. Noola was never all that religious about the Light or the Supernals - she always mostly viewed them as providing a good set of morals to go by and now they're morals that hide shortsightedness and strict restrictions on intellectual and personal freedom. Which is one of the reaons she's so gung-ho about research here lately. Interestingly, she doesn't think the morals themselves are bad, she just thinks they're hypocritical when compared to the reality of the society. (And those are IC feelings, not OOC ones! ) Keeping things ICly sensible is also why she went Geomancer instead of Nihilist (because if she didn't worship the Supernals, suddenly worshiping the Demon Lords would be odd).
Anyway, my point is, consider why going to the Blacktalon will make sense ahead of time, so you don't have to fudge so much.

Noola,
Thanks for your advice also, exactly why I'm trying to work this out ahead of time, for I don't want to mess up. As for the switch from Demon Lords and Lady to nature, not a big switch, her main worship is Nifilhema of course, whom I was thinking I could always allow Sarie to hang onto even if in the privacy of herself and rooms whenever she gets some. As for nature, well, Sarie is all for transformation, she has been trying to transform since she arrived, what better way to study transformation to enable oneself to grow than to study that which transforms naturally, in cycles, that being nature, rather than a forced transformation such as the taint?
I have considered the fact that I could perhaps wait out a chance to effect change within the guild and that still is an option if I can get Sarie to even want to grovel to get back in, but she's not much into grovelling and would rather walk away then to admit she needs something. Nihilist for her, is not so much a guild (with exception of the skills she no longer has) it is a mindset that she encompasses, and that particular guild just most reflected her planned mindset. Sarie can still have the mindset, the core of what she is anywhere, for it is whom she is, it just presents itself differently, subtly or even secretly. Actually a dark druid Sarie is starting to seem pretty appealing.
I like the atmosphere of Magnagora, but have spent time in Glom also and of all the cities and communes that has always been kept as a possible secondary location for her.

Why would you think 'groveling' is what returning would require? See, this is why I shouldn't be listening to Othero and should have tracked you down and went Heresiarch on you! Which is still happening anyhow
I really hope you'll find your place wherever you go Sarie but you're always welcomed back. And I'm sorry for what we refer to here as stagnation in the Guild, the GA has just been away for quite a while I have accosted him successfuly yesterday though and stuff has been sorted.

a crimson feminine cookie with chestnuts
Baked shortly, just enough to brown the edges, the pastry of this
cookie is creamy and soft. It has been moulded to represent a female
viscanti, the race discernable by the small horns protruding from her
forehead. Large grey beads gaze out of the child-like face softly and
chestnut shavings, used for the hair, envelop the cheeks in curls and
swirls. Glazing of a distinctly crimson colour has been lavishly used
to outfit the viscanti into fitting robes, a sensuous contradiction to
her innocent countenance. The contrast is only sharpened by the
unmistakable scent of absinthe emanating from the glazing.
Done.

But anyway, Sarie, I do think it's worth it to try out Glomdoring if you are really leaning that way. It sounds like you want to try it out before thinking of returning to Magnagora. I know there are some absolutely wonderful RPers in Glom, and not to mention, as Demetrios said, the d'Murani line of the family that's beginning there. So you would find a niche right away. And of course it's not as though you'd be cut off from the Mag family - on the contrary, we tend to blend often with the Glom family (well, the two that exist), and you are always welcome at Auntie Lin's. Unless your father is there and you're coming just to press his buttons. (Since I just HATE seeing his buttons pressed.)
And at least you always have the option open to return to the Nihilists, as Nariah and Othero made pretty clear! Also, don't downplay the Geos - I tinkered on an alt there and there's LOTS of opportunity to be "hardcore" as you call it. Keep in mind that the d'Murani of d'Muranis, Aiakon, was a very devoted Geomancer! Now. *auntie Sarie* Good luck wherever you go!
Nariah2007-11-12 13:43:22
Slow auntie Lin, she's back in Nihilists! We wouldn't be derailing this rudely had it not been the case.
