Jewelers Trans skill comparison

Just a quick question, well two actually. What was the old trans skill for jewelers? I seem to remember it being the ability to craft something related to influencing. Or am I thinking of another skill?

I just got to this level with my character and read the skill description for Tierstone. Its basically scrying, I think? Doesn't another skill give this ability also?

Was the old skill better than the new skill?

The old skill was room-wide transfixing.

I've heard the new one was "a weaker version of the scrying artifact", but I'm not sure what they mean by that or even if its correct.

The tierstone gives infinite scries, as well you can attune it to a plane and it works such that you can see the QW or WHO on the plane (I don't know which), and it doesn't see through the gem of cloaking.

I don't really know what they were thinking. This item is about as useful as a dead fish on a hot summer day. Give me +15% sparkleberry healing or extra/faster sipping. Give me something that gives me +cha, or robes with great armour.

I think the tierstone is very useful. It's an infinite scry that shows the target's room and area, unless you're in the same area. If you are, it shows their room as if you QL/LOOKed in it. And it lets you attune to a plane and you can then see QW/BW of it from then on, as Myn said.

More-detailed scry like that is actually really good. Especially for people who don't naturally have scry.

OK, I'll give you that, and... You give me your magic tome? Or... I'll take the +15% sparkleberry.

Oh how I wish we could use magic tomes...

Anyone know how magic tome fares vs splendours?
Arel2007-11-19 05:44:08
Magic tomes are 5 DMP, so splendours is where to go to extra protection. The real value is not having to recharge a scroll.
Simimi2007-11-19 05:49:03
Thankies! I still miss my tome though...

I would be ultra happy if the teirstone worked on Mobs/items as well as players.
