Night

In terms of warrior combat, Night is the skillset that is the best for someone who is actively seeking to be a major combatant. It has numerous passives which stack well with a Warrior's offense-- that being the Shadow stealing (a one-off event, then passively attacks each swing thereafter), the DMP (which isn't really cut down by anything, as Warriors have little else in the way of DMP) from Nightkiss, and the Weapon aura. Crow, on the other hand, has lots of neat little utility things that make it more *fun*, but less combat useful, for a warrior. Crow's been buffed a bit, and I'm hoping for one more change to it that'll give it its own passive combat focus (though still remaining behind Night in that respect), so I'm looking for ideas on Night.

Summarized Intent: Make Crow slightly more useful for Warrior combat, make Night slightly more interesting / less bland a skillset. Crow is intended to still be less of the "dedicated hardcore fighter's" skillset than Night, while remaining more interesting-- I'm just trying to bring them a little closer together, while retaining their base essence.

Requirements:
No ideas that discuss damage increase/modifications.
No ideas that discuss damage decrease.
Utility ideas are good!
Flavour ideas are excellent.
New Coven ideas are acceptable-- Penumbra is an example of a neat flavour skill.

Good ideas might be suggested as replacements for skills that already exist, or just new skills entirely. Night is kind of bland, however, as I've heard others saying, and I haven't been able to come up with any ideas on my own to fix that. Hence where you come in. What would make Night a "cool" skillset in terms of flavour?

Weapon coven!

FORM A COVEN WITH YOUR WEAPONS.

You join hands with a baleful rapier of darkened steel and a baleful rapier of darkened steel, forming a coven circle.

I dunno. I'll think on this.

Rooms with shadows don't display enter/exit messages + ability to instantly move to the next closest room with shadows in it.

Who needs "cool" when you have Choke?
I'm serious here. Night is powerful as is. Making a good combat skill still good in combat but with better utility = overpowered.

He asked for non-combat stuff, not an overpowered cousin of Tumble.

The envoy report the Admin already have their hands on holds a Choke downgrade, so-- if you have an idea, feel free to post, but it seems your objection's already been addressed.

I was thinking of an overpowered version of flow actually....

Shadowmask.

Hide your identity while in the room. A tae'dae with a shadowmask stands here wielding a sword in each hand.

Why not just have it cauldron instead of coven, like peering into the cauldron and seeing them in that instead.

You link hands with those in your coven and gather close to gaze into the depths of your cauldron. "Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn, and cauldron bubble.", you chant as the shadows within the cauldron ripple and form into the image of Daem at Stairs near the Tower's base.

Can't help but think that. confused.gif

EDIT: Mind, I like it though!

I think a skill that could totally hide an object or mob from sight might be neat to do with shadows (doesn't appear in look or IH, can still be tracked by a hunting hound or otherwise interacted with). Dissipates when the shadows in that room dissipate, though if the shadows are covering something you don't see the shadows in that room either. Only works at night - dissolves if it becomes day before the shadows dissipate, and doesn't work at all during the full moon.
Ashai2007-11-20 13:46:19
Ok, some kind of crazy ideas:

1)
A coven skill that blots out the moon, making it the equivalent to a new moon, and I suppose the moondancers could do something similar to make it the full moon. Coven size would be at least five people, but not thirteen, as there are never thirteen night users around at the same time EVER. It would be expensive, of course, like an initial ten shadows, and then five shadows for every thirty seconds following, given by the coven leader. I don't know how the moondancers would 'pay' for this ability, but if both covens tried to alter the status of the moon, it wouldn't be a do/undo thing, but the opposing coven can commence their moon ritual thing to begin to reverse the effects of the other. Maybe you could double the rate of shadow expenditure in order to make it harder to alter the moon. But yeah, the new moon/full moon doesn't happen enough naturally to make terror/rage fun.

2)
A night specific coven ability to either summon a mutual ally or teleport someone to another person, minimum coven size three. Since moonies have resurgem, maybe this could be somewhat equivalent.

PS- please replace longnight

Interesting, but kind of pointless.
Maybe if it worked like Conceal from Glamours, you'd have something. (ie. doesn't require released shadows, possibly allows you to choose a new appearance?).

Maybe something like a shadowy version of the Illusion skill?
Call it Shades or something.
It'd be for RP use mostly, so it'd have 'A shadowy vision' or something before whatever you illusion.

hmmm, maybe something that goes BUMP! ?
Unknown2007-11-22 16:40:43
AB NIGHT BUMP
SHADOWDANCE BUMP
By darkening the room, just a little bit, most people
like to let their imagination create what they think they
cannot see...

Basically, you use it to cause a variety of spooky illusions that do nothing.
Only works at night, unless you release shadows.
