I don't usually advertise movies on TV but I'm excited to see this one and thought I'd share! It starts at 7:00 p.m. PST on ION channel.

Hogfather

(After I see it, I'll let you know what I think.)

Oh, I liked that book. Wonder if I can find it somewhere I can watch it.

Cool, but wtf is the ION channel?

The Hogfather movie is surprisingly decent, given when/who made it, and that it's a Pratchett book and those are rather...odd.

I want a Susan like that.

And Mr. Teatime was a good shot at the creepy he should be.

This was an extremely faithful adaptation to Hogfather, though the extremely dry humour doesn't have as great an impact on film than in print. I'm not sure if many of those who haven't read Hogfather or are familiar with Pratchett's work would enjoy it nearly as much as those who have--and clocking in at 4 hours, it's a pretty long sitting. Pratchett nicely blends comedy (from satiric to slapstick), philosophy and high fantasy. I think Monstrous Regiment is a must read for all warriors (especially ur'Guard!), and Wyrd Sisters should be read by all aspiring wiccans (Granny Weatherwax is my hero).

I think Mr. Teatime sounded a lot like Johnny Depp's Willie Wonka... which is admittedly pretty creepy.

That movie's great, and Susan is beautiful. smile.gif

This is the same miniseries that Sky One showed in the UK last year. Hence, I'm just going to torrent it down.

That was a pretty good film. I especially liked Death and Hex. The two-part thing seems to have worked a lot better than Harry Potter's "completely gut the storyline" strategy, and the recap at the beginning of part 2 was handily comprehensive (8-10 minutes is a bit long for it though.) I don't remember the plot of Hogfather specifically since it's been years since I read it but I am familiar with all the characters - I think Estarra's right that people who aren't already fans of the books might not get it quite so well, but the plot is pretty understandable so it might be enjoyable on its own merits.

Also, the all-British cast is kind of refreshing. ninja.gif

My favourite of the books is Thief of Time, by the way. I hope they do a film adaptation of that or Small Gods.

EDIT: The sockeater was adorable too!
