Hey guys,
We've gotten a few bug reports about auronidion particles and bombarding, but really it's just people mis-understanding how the two interact. It makes me think that maybe they should be handled a different way.
Here's how it works now: You bombard a construct or colossus, and auronidion particles are released on the ground at your target.
Some players are under the impression that particles would be released into the Aetherways. As I thought about it, this seems like a fairly logical conclusion to draw (since a ship can't scoop from the ground).
How do you guys think this should work? As it is now? Particles released into the Aetherways? Some hybrid of the two?

I like how ground units can get them. Gives a good thing for everyone on the ground to be able to get something for their work.
However, I'm still waiting to see how much they are worth, the spheres that is. I would also like it so that ships in aetherspace could get particles. But, prefferred that there's kind of a price draw. Don't want to give out too many particles at a great price.

I think a combination might be good, some in aetherspace, some on the ground. That way there's a chance for it to be grabbed by multiple people.

I think a combination would be good.

I would like the "151" in my pocketbelts to be able to be removed, personally (different issue, same thing).
Krellan2007-11-29 22:45:07
I feel that all the particles of a bombardment should be stored in the ships aetherhold. If you're bombarding then there will already be people on the ground from one or both sides focusing. They can get those particles. Also, would it be possible to remove particles from the aetherhold? Currently, it is not possible.
The third way of obtaining particles is to destroy ships. I had my ship implode with particles in the aetherhold. Returned the spot in about 30 seconds and nothing was there. I was wondering how you obtain particles this way?

I like a combination idea. It makes the most sense.
On a slightly unrelated note, has anyone had any success trading particles for spheres with the gnomes?

Yes.

I voted for a combination of the two. Why is it you only get anything if your on the ground? Yet you have like 5+ people in the air?
Lets get some to everyone

Sweet biscuits, yes. They were worth an incredible amount. I don't know if that's likely to recur though.
Krellan2007-12-01 02:07:53
Why are we all voting for a combination again? Both sides should get some right? But the ground side already gets plenty by focusing. Should average around 300 particles a person. so why not all particles purely from bombardment just go in aetherspace or to the ship's aetherhold?
Hyrtakos2007-12-01 02:11:12
Because there should always be some incentive to field a ground force as well.
- Voted for combination.

Krellan2007-12-01 02:29:08
Did you miss the part where I said the ground force can focus? I'm guessing a focuser will make a lot more than a bombarder. That's all the incentive needed.
Hyrtakos2007-12-01 02:47:12
I find little incentive in either sitting there and bombarding for an hour, or contrarily sitting there for an hour focusing.
There should be something to kick the people lounging through aetherspace in the ass and get them down on the ground to steal all of the spheres even if they happen to not be in position to afford a colossus.

If anything it's more likely that putting them all on the ground would mean the defenders get to steal them, which is entirely not the point of this exercise. I'm ok with a combination though. Just make sure the other half go directly to the hull without passing go and collecting £200.
Krellan2007-12-01 04:27:38
well if you get an average of 300 particles per weakening. Meaning you and no one else is focusing. Wow those two aren't even sentences huh? Anyways, check out the value on these things and then tell me there's no point in sitting for an hour gaining small amounts of xp and karma.
Shiri2007-12-01 04:30:17
I have no idea what you just said.
I've never gained any noticeable xp/karma for focusing though.

The karma gain was noticeable for me last time I focussed, about 2% from a solid 40 minutes.

While noticeable, that's not really *noticeable*... (by which I believe Nejii meant "Actually an amount that will do anybody any good ever").
Shiri2007-12-01 04:38:51
Thats a lot less than I lose from the kills I rack up while focusing, so yeah, what Xen said.
