Another thread got me thinking about different things an org could do, event/storywise, besides just raiding. I thought it might be cool to have a thread where people posted their suggestions, and people could use it as a resource to spur their own thinking or just steal ideas outright. The idea is not to spell out every detail, but to give a seed for people to run with.
I'd rather this thread not be used to -critique- ideas (if you think the ideas suck, post your own), but rather just form a list of them so people could decide which ones would be applicable or could be made applicable to their situation.
To get the ball rolling:
Take It If You Can
Your org issues a challenge to another org to penetrate a defended location and take an object from them. This is sort of a capture-the-flag idea, except one way, and the "flag" is ideally some kind of thing it would be neat to have (gold, custom-designed weapons, fifty health vials, etc.). This can fit in well to a little mini-story depending on how you want to do it, i.e. let slip that Viravain's Order will be transporting a pair of sacred blades from Avechna's Peak to the Temple, Celest wants to demonstrate the superiority of Light by challenging Magnagora to take a chest of gold from a tower, etc. The whole thing can be as informal or formal as you like, ranging from a spontaneous challenge to a built-up thing with maps, spies, etc.
If the attackers seem overmatched, it's up to the defenders to scale down the effort to make it a fair fight (do an emergency move to another location, agree on what defense tactics will and won't be used, etc.). If the defenders are overmatched, well, that was half the point. Difficulty can be enhanced by using a locked box with the key somewhere else, or the use of decoys.
A less violent version of this would be basically the same idea, except the other org has to find the item by successfully completing a series of tasks or speaking to people who give riddles and clues to the next location. This version can also be spread out over several days, and the presentation of clues could be little events in and of themselves.

Save the Whales
Your org could be either the aggressor or the defender. The key is just that both orgs know about it.
Pick a spot full of mobs and declare your intent to defend (or attack) the mobs in it over a particular period of time for some reason (the sea turtles are spawning, the undead are at their weakest point at that moment in the year, etc.). The "event" ends at some predetermined condition. Time expires, one side is destroyed, X number of a certain type of mob is killed, etc.
If this is meant to span over a few RL days, and you're playing the defense side, you could also issue conditions under which people might be allowed into the protected area. I.e. they agree to wear shirts that say "Mag Rulz" or whatnot while in the area.

Jailbreak
A ranking member of your org has been captured by the enemy. They cannot use their abilities to escape because they're surrounded by four chanting magi/they're in an antimagic field/they're listening to Britney Spears/they're drugged/they don't want to/etc.
You have to save them by an assault or sneak them out via trickery. The "captured" character can only move as long as an ally is in the room with them. No following allowed. For additional complexity, the character cannot move under their own power at all. Further, the "rescue" party could consist of just one person, or a small group.
This scenario could be useful for characters who are wanting to "evolve" somehow, either to generate greater affection or greater hatred for the enemy org or someone in it.

Gun for Hire
Your org (this probably will not work at an Org with a capital "O" level, or even a guild level, but certainly a clan level and possibly an Order level) sells its military might to the highest bidder and performs missions at their direction.

Player as Denizen
1) Pick a very powerful fighter. We'll call him Forregebsrim.
2) Forregebshrim, with the assistance of a talented illusionist who's in on it, or an admin willing to help, takes on the appearance of some kind of powerful creature. This can also be done with no manipulation of appearance and using some tired failback story like possession, as long as Forregebshrim's org is willing to cut him some slack for the sake of this event and not kick him out.
3) Forregebshrim can maraud the lands or stake out a locale and issue dire threats and challenges as to what will happen if he is not stopped. This is particularly useful if he sets up shop in a heavily-trafficked bashing area.
4) People try to kill Forregebshrim. The event ends when he dies or leaves with promises to return to plague the lands. This could also involve orgs teaming up to fight the common threat.
Granted, the admins could and have done pretty much this exact thing, but I think having players fight another player using player abilities puts a new spin on it, and since it's entirely player controlled, it could be worked into any number of stories either at a personal or an organizational level.

I remember, this happened way back. It was sad, because Celest hailstormed their own citizens to death to save them.

Come to think of it, any thing that allows other orgs to capture their enemies would add a fantastic element to the game (not the silly binding thing so they can't move, actually incapacitating them, capturing them, and throwing them in a prison).

I agree, but I think it has to be complicit, though. Otherwise, that would be very unfun for a lot of people.

The problem is finding people wanting to kidnap you though, I tried (albiet not very hard) to arrange my own kiddnapping to no avail. I would be up for all that sometime though, though without the whole move to magnagora.

Some of these ideas work better on an individual level than others, but they mostly presuppose groups, and groups that are willing to try these scenarios. This involves the leadership of said groups working together, which I'm told is an impossibility in Lusternia. On the off chance that it actually isn't, I'll keep trying to come up with more ideas.

The Duel
(lifted from a suggestion from Veyda)
Org A challenges Org B to a duel/tournament of some kind in which a champion, series of champions, or small team of champions is selected from both sides to fight/debate it out. This could be used to settle disputes, trials by combat, prove superiority, or could even be used by friendly orgs to build camaraderie and increase education about combat.
This scenario could involve ground rules of some kind (time limit, certain tactics prohibited, only certain archetypes allowed, only allowed to use a health vial with 5 sips in it, etc.), although some interesting things could happen if one side decided to cheat, or fights broke out among the crowd.
