Ok we had the issue of conflicts never occuring.. people complained..

Now raids are like hourly or so, and are just annoyingly common.. people complain..

When is it that you have enough conflict without too much or too little? Mind you conflict is really just done in raids right now, as quests fr conflict dont really work, the most effectual one is releasing gorgogs which only hurts cities (and generally the novices).

Any thoughts on what a good balance is? Ways to fix things? etc?

I kind of wish people would stop saying 'conflict' really. Because apparently, the only conflict a lot (not all, but a lot) of people seem to care about or discuss is battle. So, instead of 'conflict' why not just call it 'battle'?

I'm not saying anything against fighting or battle or PK or anything like that. I'm no good at it, and honestly I'm not sure that'll ever change, but it's a big part of the game and other people's fun. I know that. smile.gif

I'm just saying that there are so many other avenues of conflict that get ignored in discussions like this, even when people bring them up. Like political conflict, artistic conflict, theological conflict, cultural conflict - so why not just call them battle discussions?

But I realize that has little to do with the topic Malarious meant for this thread to discuss. laugh.gif

I am totally up to hear about non battle conflict too (like the quests) this was all encompassing not only battle conflict

A few comments
1) I don't think that the gorgog quest is done to harm the cities. Gorgogs are excellent bashing. I love when the rift is open because it means a LOT of excellent bashing.
2) Raids against MAGNAGORA are "hourly or so" (which I don't think they are, but that's not your point). Not really anywhere else. And there's really no way to control it, IMO, save for avenger off prime which I think is a terrible idea. It's just bad luck, I guess, that Celest has a ton of great fighters and Magnagora doesn't.
3) Keep in mind that the administration believe that non-prime planes are free-open-PK. You can die the instant you step on there, and should even expect to. (I disagree with this notion, but this is also not the point of this thread.) So, this means that they believe there's no conflict balance necessary off-prime.

Raiding best when it is just under the point were it starts to become a hassle. Celest's current raiding rate would be fine if all they did was charge in and start killing things, fight the defenders, then leave after the things they wanted to kill or the raiders are all dead. That would be fun. Instead, they keep comming back and don't leave until they get bored or beaten badly enough. That's a hassle. And the only way to fix it is to fix the players or for Mag to get enough people to totaly whip the attackers. Monks will help with that.

Aye raiding isnt bad but when its all the time and for even fairly long periods.. its just tedious.

THAT IS: I dont mind raids, they just shouldnt be all the time or last forever.

Fix insanity, have it replace flux/ripple. Make it constant for all enemies, with the discretionary power serving to boost the accrual rate. Or just flat dumping a certain number value of insanity points on all present enemies - though you'd have to get rid of the 'free discretionary power' benefit from constructs.

That serves as a great deterrent to hit and run for hours on end, or camping out in enemy territory.

Ideally I would like to see flux and ripple not made free, insanity still in place (or fixed..?), and org conglut at that nexus.

This would allow people to regroup without forcing prays or sacrifices on everyone, regardless of rank.
