Layering Clothes

I've been wondering this for a while, but is there any reason you can't wear pants and shirts under robes and greatrobes? I've always wished I could dress up my character a little bit more, but the game won't allow it. I can't think of any RP reason why you shouldn't be able to do this, you could easily wear pants and a shirt underneath robes in a real life setting. Robes aren't tight or anything, they are rather billowy.

I also don't think this would be very hard to code. Add (or take away) whatever code it is that lets you wear underwear under robes, and add that to pants/shirts.

I want to be able to wear cool clothes, and I want to take the tailoring skillset so I can make some cool things to wear. But most of those ideas are for shirts and pants!

Have you ever seen any Lusternian robes? 99% of them look like they were designed by fetishists.

That said, I agree with you.

You're supposed to wear underwear under your robes? unsure.gif

But yeah, I agree, being a tailor, I've always wanted to dress Acrune up fancy, but couldn't because I'm stuck with the robes.
Aison2007-12-15 19:22:27
Agreed. This should be changed. Aison's robes are designed loosely. I'd like it if she could wear some trousers beneath those billowy robes, or at least another skirt for added layering.
Unknown2007-12-15 19:33:46
Agreed, Othero wears robes all the time but I would love to be able to dress up some more.
Noola2007-12-15 22:52:03
Also agreed. Noola' a Trill and she flies quite often. The only reason she doesn't wear robes is cause she's unwilling to have people able to look up and see her undies... or worse if she happened to be flying overhead.

Besides, it's silly, not being able to wear clothes under a robe. The kids at Hogwarts do it! laugh.gif
Ranadae2007-12-16 00:02:16
Ranadae doesn't normally wear ANYTHING under his robes and he is quite keen on handstands. I think, for the sake of the eyes of Magnagora, that we should be allowed to wear trousers under robes.
Unknown2007-12-16 00:25:01
I quote all the above topics and add my agreement. I want to wear more clothes, even in the summer time for the sake of wearing more clothes. Is it possible for a divine to comment on the possibility code wise? Understandably, there might not be a lot of time with Mag's monks just now coming out, but at least either give us hope or take it away completely?

Plus, some pants would do wonders when you're flying and an errant wind comes up. How embarrasing.

Eh, as I've noticed, more designs are tight because they are the only garment you can wear (coats and cloaks aside). So they get dressed up more and more of an outrageous ensemble to make up for the fact that you can't wear anything but undergarments underneath. Pants and shirts aren't armour, they don't add to the defense, so I don't see why not.

Embarrassing? I think you mean 'refreshing'. content.gif

How can you wear a chastity belt if you had pants on? The one you are describing seems to be huge. You will need super baggy rapper pants to hide the "jaws of life" or "beartrap" down there. whatthe.gif

It's a mithril chastity belt. Thin as lace! STRONG AS DRAGON SCALES!

But, just because you deserve this:

Aaargh!

Noola2007-12-16 07:08:50
Wow... where's this big tub of acid everyone's getting pushed into? I want a big tub of acid!
Acrune2007-12-16 07:35:58
You can share ours! Its nice and warm... and tingly!
Unknown2007-12-16 18:51:26
I'm insane and I took a look at the layers. It looks as if it is split into Underwear, Normal, and outerwear. Then split up between body parts. I think the best solution should be a fourth layer, between Normal and outerwear. Robes could be moved to that layer. Vests should probably also be moved to that layer. At the moment it looks as if I can not wear a coat and a vest. Seems like you should be able to.

Speaking of the new monks coming out, I'd like to see some changes to leather armour to make it a more appealing choice. Perhaps some sort of masterwork leathers or something, let them have magic resists on them, or boost the armour way up so that it's more of an option.

As it is, everyone wears robes nearly, which is fine for some classes, but the image of everyone outside of warriors walking around in robes strikes me as... lame.

Especially monks, who are doing very physical activities in a magic bath robe. Not to mention kicking people. In a robe. ...come on.

But especially mag's new monks, who are also swinging around a barbed chain. While wearing billowy magic bathrobes. Seriously. They need viable leathers before someone gets something caught in and unpleasant place and, with one deft motion, strips themselves and falls on the ground.
Unknown2007-12-16 20:39:56
I agree 100% with you. I always felt lame being a Druid and wearing robes. It seemed -very- impractical to be climbing up and down and hopping from tree-to-tree wearing robes. I would rather have worn leather armor.
Noola2007-12-16 20:58:30
Isn't there a thing called battng or something which you can get a tailor to add to leather armour which allows it to be proofed like robes?
