Was this that empress I keep hearing about?

QUOTE
A large, rectangular gateway opens up near you, and you feel yourself irresistibly drawn inside.

Yeah was at my manse, got summoned, killed, etc. Should I monolith the whole manse or something to stop it heh? Does shield prevent it?
Eldanien2007-12-16 03:01:29
Empress only works on you if you have them allied. If you lust for them, they can do it plane-wide. That's the usual method - they lust you with a lust tarot or love potion. To solve this, REJECT (PERSON).
Eldanien2007-12-16 03:03:37
Just curious though, they empressed you from one manse to another?

Somehow, that doesn't feel right.
Unknown2007-12-16 03:06:31
Ah, I see thanks.
And yeah, couldn't leave either because I don't have access to use that manse, or maybe it was a large manse and I was in a section away from the portal thing.
Acrune2007-12-16 03:07:15
You can get out of any manse.
Unknown2007-12-16 03:09:49
Nevermind I fail again. I was at the right room, just didn't notice the portal thing.
Unknown2007-12-16 04:08:25
I thought Empress went through monolith? Or am I confusing things again? hypnotised.gif
Eldanien2007-12-16 04:22:58
Monoliths stop Empress, unless there was a change I didn't catch.

Though Empressing across manses seems wrong, somehow.
Arvont2007-12-16 07:33:59
From investigation:

WHO on a manse shows the people on that particular manse ONLY, meaning manses are different planes.
However, manses are on the same planar level - you could always hear Prime channels from a manse.
Eldanien2007-12-16 07:43:48
Manses are 'adjacent' to every plane, which is why people go there if they want to scry Limbo. Heck, you can go to manses and send tells to people in the Undervault without having PlanarSight - it ignores the continents. But still, they're individual pockets of reality that are mystically connected to the various aether portal locations. I always viewed them as super tiny aetherbubbles with a magical connection to their exits, and not necessarily bunched up together in aetherspace. Maybe my perception of this is wrong.

I just think it's a bad idea to allow Empressing from one manse to another. It would take some doing, but wouldn't be -that- hard to dash into your favorite reinforced-door-locked room and Empress them into a place they can't escape. This is essentially guaranteed death.

Sure, it depends on whether the victim was lax or ignorant, not checking their allies list after fighting someone while under the effects of a love potion, or tossing tarots. But considering you can hide lust effect...

I dunno. It doesn't sound right to me.

This actually isn't true anymore. The admin apparently didn't know it was working that way until recently, and they fixed it. Manses are now adjacent to prime only. Or at least, that's how they're supposed to be. I think there might still be some ways around it, but I've never bothered trying.

I agree on this. You can't teleport from one manse to another. I'm not sure about summoning/etc., but doing any of those things from one manse to another is a problem.
