Just a little poll, regarding the recent rash of Aetherplex meldings. Please discuss your answer if you feel like it. I personally disapprove of using the aetherplex as a camping spot or duelling ground, regardless of organization. Although I suppose there really isn't anything wrong with duelling there if it is a duel and not just someone jumping someone else.

Aetherplex is fine as is, peace it and it gets boring.
Xavius2007-12-20 03:13:16
Single best dueling spot in the Basin. Druids can't use the mountain just outside without an arti, everything else is an obnoxious walk.

Aetherplex does not need to be peaced. It's easy enough to escape (portal enter?) in case you get jumped, and the chances of that are rare unless you're just idling (or have given reason to others to actively hunt you down).

Don't see why one would go to the Aetherplex if they knew there was a 'gank squad' hunting for them.

Extended duels at the Aetherplex are annoying simply because of the spam. Besides, why would you duel at the Aetherplex when you can duel in more interesting place (Faethorn, woo.)

I think duels are fine at the Aetherplex. It is a little annoying that someone can attack you while you're trying to find a manse shop, cause one minute you're scrolled up reading manse names - the next you scroll back down and you're dead. laugh.gif But that's only happened to me once, and there was a good reason behind it. laugh.gif

As I post this, Munsia has melded the aetherplex and the road all the way to Shallach bridge, and put up firewalls. GG Munsia

Edit: apparently the firewalls are telperions
Edit: apparently there isn't a meld there, just walls

Aetherplex is fine.
Amarysse2007-12-20 04:34:08
I don't have a problem with the duels, personally, and it seems to be Lusternia's version of "North of Thera." It's a well-known, neutral area in which two combatants can have at each other. I'm not keen on the idea of mass combat there, however, simply because it is such a high-traffic area.

Yes, no, yes.

Peace arti shops. You can still meet there to duel - just step outside.

Why peace artie shops? They aren't a refuge.

I'd be more worried bout the regular aether shop. After all, if someone ganks you while you're trying to buy an arti, you're not gonna drop anything if you die. But if someone gets the drop on you and you're trying to buy a room box or worse, a fulcrux, you could lose a lot of gold.
Eldanien2007-12-20 05:06:20
I've always viewed the acquisition of arties as a semi-ooc event. Mechanically, this isn't the case, but I would have preferred seeing arti purchase have nothing to do with heading into 'the agreed upon place where everyone goes to have random slugfests'.

The more you make a place the warzone of choice, the less you should require people to enter that place to spend dollars.

I could understand that concern - however, it was changed around ten months ago so you would no longer drop gold on death.

Oh! Well.... nevermind! laugh.gif

I agree with Eld on the artie thing, strangely enough.

People should know better than to put firewalls everywhere, especially there, with novices going up and down the mountain all the time.

Peace it. I'm so sick of these Aetherplex brawls. Yes, it's fine for combatants, but I'm really sick of seeing little griefers in training(Aniri) ganking any novice who happens to be shopping then calling for help when someone who can handle themselves fights back. Take last night. Holy geeze what a brawl, I got sucked into it while I was looking for a cube so I got angry and started fighting back. Maybe if people like Munsia and Aniri would stop being twits the Aetherplex would be fine. It is nice for duels.

I like the Aetherplex brawls.

The only bad thing is I usually die. sad.gif

I didn't mean brawl...I meant...."my friends can beat up your friends" contests.
