So I've seen a few of these around, and I'm kinda at a stopping point where I'm not sure how to proceed with my skills. Maybe you !!!~*~*~*~*~OMNITRANS~*~*~*~*~!!! guys would have some suggestions. I have 270 credits and my skills are looking like this:

I was thinking maybe more planar... or discipline for focus mind... I dunno. Help!

If you want to learn to PK, you absolutely need discipline to focus mind (fabled.)

Planar to trans is also highly recommended because of broadcast and conglutinate. Arts, aethercraft, highmagic, dramatics, influence (although influence to analyze is a good idea), and environment higher than tumble (expert/virt, I forget) are all largely superfluous.

Alright, I'll work on those next as that sorta confirms what I was already thinking. Also, looking at trade skills from a purely NON-RP standpoint, I've been trying to decide which trans ability would work well for me. Tailoring would obviously have the splendor robes, which I've heard are great. I'm curious as to how magictome actually works... like is it just having one big book with all the scrolls inside? And cooking seems so rarely used, I can't see the use in it.
Shiri2007-12-26 12:08:20
Splendour robes rock.

Magictome is bad for monks. It's like all 4 scrolls, except instead of charging with a cube/enchanter, you recharge by taking damage - but only while wielded. Which is bad because you need to wield your weapons. Don't bother with that.

The cooking trans isn't at all useful for individuals.

Well, I probably be looking for my damned sewing kit, then. Thanks for the quick and helpful replies, Shiri. biggrin.gif

He's got somersault though, so tumble wouldn't be needed unless he dropped acrobatics.

Yeah, I had realized that. I learned up to fluidswim to not be annoyed. Probably going to stay that way for some time now.
Shiri2007-12-27 01:47:59
Oh yeah...woops, my bad.
Unknown2007-12-27 02:18:27
So I'm not omni trans...but oh well

Trans Discipline. You just have to. Focus mind is a must have, metawake is pretty much a requirement against some guilds. Faster power regen is extremely helpful.

Trans Planar if you can.
Shamarah2007-12-27 02:19:55
You absolutely positively need to get Combat to Weaponparry if you don't have it yet (I'm not sure whether you do at your skillrank...) Until you do you'll get clobbered by warriors.

I highly suggest transing planar if you're going to be getting into raiding at all. After that, go for discipline. (Although learning discipline to metawake before transing planar might not be a bad idea. Metawake is only somewhere around Gifted, IIRC... can someone confirm?)

Yeah, I just got up to metawake now, it's a bit before gifted. I'll have to look at combat now, too, thanks.

Also, this isn't really on the topic of my skills, which are coming along splendidly thanks you all of your suggestions, but I've been considering a race change now that I'm in the 60's. I had been thinking perhaps a krokani or an aslaran, but I heard that some people actually go faeling as monks.

Obviously the dex would be crazy and the level 3 balance would be awesome, coupled with the herb and elixir balances... I'd never thought of them as viable monks because of the low str and con, but I've heard that's not as important for monks as I believed.

Thoughts? ohmy.gif
Unknown2007-12-29 00:00:52
Humans are supposed to be good at higher levels for monk, but that's just hearsay. Krokani are supposed to be the awesome gods of bashing.
Burke2007-12-29 00:04:04
I also heard humans have the upper hand at high levels, but I was told "high" was defined at 90+, which... yeah.
Shiri2007-12-29 02:00:16
Humans are great for bashing. They're tankier than faelings. Faelings are great in general, but again, you have to be tankier than you probably are at your level.
Burke2007-12-29 02:03:02
Tankier == just more hp?
Shiri2007-12-29 02:07:02
Yes. Sip bonus isn't enough to cover for really low hp at level 60. At level 80+ it's much better-equipped for that.
Iola2007-12-29 02:18:03
I don't know what level you are - but as a faeling at level 77 I have just over 2800 base HP. I can buff that to about 3800 if I get everything in the world that can possibly buff me (skull at max bonus, life blessing, herofete, TF, astrologer alignment bonus and so on).
Burke2007-12-29 02:20:24
Ouch, I'm Illithiod at 60 and I sit at around 3200 hp with no health buffs. ohmy.gif
