Linking During Wildnodes

Wildnodes are an excellent event for PvP, and allow the players to experience much-needed org conflict. However, the enjoyable PvP in such Wildnodes event is quickly reduced to boring ol' bashing because players simply Serpent/Tripleflash and overlink a node to kill off the defenders. Celest and Magnagora have drained their spheres' nodes completely because of this exact problem.

The proposed solution is simple: Make linking to nodes impossible during a wildnodes event. Not only does this allow the event to continue to focus on PvP, but it also opens up two spheres for hunting - lobstrosities and goats.

I think astral nodes is a fun part of this game. It can be used both as an offensive and defensive strategy, and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Or we can simply make the linking action remove the serpent or tripleflash and so we can still have this viable tactic around. If you can't kill a person in the time it takes for a link to happen, you probably wouldn't win wildnodes anyway.

I don't mind the initial idea though.

It already does. As soon as one percent reserve is received from the node, the prismatic sphere and the dodging from tripleflash is stripped and not returned. What may confuse some about this is that at the end of the original duration, a message is still given for them dropping.

By the time one percent is drained, it's too late.

Wouldnt be bad if cancer and capricorn were bashable
Unknown2008-01-02 02:48:44
Right, I know it drops on the first tick, I mean I want it to drop the moment you get the 'You link your hands on a node, blah blah" message.
Shiri2008-01-02 03:01:34
Yep. Or even not being doable at all would be a bonus, but I'm not picky.
Shamarah2008-01-02 03:05:58
I think it should be doable, but tflash/serpent should drop immediately, ya (and should not be possible to put back up while linking)
Xenthos2008-01-02 03:06:46
If it's doable, the nodes will just be kept permanently drained.

I don't really mind either way, but I'm sick of them getting linked-- so as long as it's doable, it won't be doable.
Shiri2008-01-02 03:06:48
Divinefire too. And TH. And that one mantra prism thing.

EDIT: And byahkari...and tahtetso block.

That's a lot of abilities to edit out. Why not just not let it be doable?
Malarious2008-01-02 03:09:05
Agree just remove linking.. like

LINK NODE

You cannot draw upon the energies of the node while its energies are so untamed.

or somethin
Xavius2008-01-02 03:49:28
Or making linking not draw so many creatures when the node is flooded with people, and we'll just stop the griefiness of it altogether!
Xenthos2008-01-02 18:28:25
And Scorpio is no more, until 1) Linking during Wildnodes is no longer possible, or 2) "Certain People" actually learn the concept of "restraint". You know who you are.

I've been meaning to do the same with Taurus. tongue.gif

Yeah, Shiri was saying that Seren would probably have to go ahead and just take the plunge, since everyone else has now.

I hate bashing bulls so no direct loss for me, but that means that other spheres will be low again. :/

Oh well, this is how wildnodes was designed!

OP asked for this to be moved to the general forum.

While we were trying to stop "certain people" from being "pricks," I discovered that "certain other people" think demanding other people practice "restraint" is an extremely unreasonable thing. It's surprisingly similar to what we had when "certain older people" couldn't learn restraint (and are surprised when it still comes back to haunt these "certain older people"), and "certain other older people" likewise agreed that restraint was an outmoded concept when it comes to enemies.

I suppose we should just be pleased that "certain people" aren't as talented as "certain older people."
