More important to combatants

So, to be honest I really don't know which is more important...

I'd say in this day and age, a good solid system is more important with the number of afflictions that can fly around and how easy it is to lose track of everything going on with the flurry of text, a system can ensure that you can stay alive a little easier, and not look back after a quick glance out the window and see that your diagnose list is 400 items long (from zero before).

Being able to tank everything thrown your way > the rest!

I'm trans every skill in the game.

When I don't spend lots of time equiping my char with the right poisons and herbs enchantments and various other equipments I can't fight at all.

Even when I do all those things, I still can't fight without a good curing system.

Even with a good curing system, I can't kill anyone who also has a curing system without practicing the skills I do have for the best type of offense.

I can think of 4 days in the past 3 years in which I had all three, and I was kicking butt those days! Even had a few top tier fighters become my friend that day smile.gif

Personal skill at fighting. Neither is any good without it.

Other: The willingness to spar, raid, or otherwise get involved in fights often. Learning from those fights. Applying what you learned in terms of offensive choices and modifications to your curing.

The skills are important, the gear is important, the curing system is important, but the willingness must exist first. Willingness and effort results in you getting your curing system - either by taking and modifying a free one, or building your own. You can hunt/quest/herb/shop sale your way up to money to buy skills and gear.

System is more important than the rest. With a system you can actually survive a little better. A system and no skill will do what skill but no system can't.

If you had to choose between a good system and a lot of transed skills, a system is much better.

Of course, if you take in consideration the fact that transing loads of skills costs hundreds upon hundreds of credits, while a system ranges only between 25-100 credits... well, just take that into consideration too. Oh, and practice. Practice, practice! Willingness is great and all, but you need to have the time for it as well.

hrmm well in some cases if you can put up an amazing offence then having a system doesnt matter at all..but overall that wont work..
Unknown2008-01-08 22:20:29
I don't have an amazing offense, or really an offense at all, but I know that having a system is definitely helping me a ton. But I do think that people have mentioned skill and they're very right, I personally suck at Lusternian combat and it's definitely showing, even though my system isn't all that bad at all. wink.gif

A solid offense can make up for a lackluster system, but if you don't know how to get yourself cured in a semi-efficient manner, you're going to die.

Note that "a solid offense" and "trans skills" are not the same.

Have to be able to attack to fight, so curing is more needed..

You wont kill anyone without the skills to do it though either (outside monk).

Good system - the most important thing. PvP is NOT doable manually.
Also, understanding your system is as important as having one. You don't have to make it from scratch by yourself, but if you can't even change health drinking variables or something basic like that without whining to the creator then it's really pathetic, even if you have the best system ever.

EDIT: Something I call "combat awareness" is important too - knowing what exactly is happening on the screen, ability to catch important stuff from the flood that races on during combat. Guess that's the part of personal skill - the defensive one, while offense is about knowing what attacks to use in a given situation. You need both that and the system to be any good in PvP, but the system is more important. It's also easier to obtain - shell out some cash or make your own using trigger lines from Forren's post. Combat awareness comes only with experience.

System, definitely.

Proof: me

Lazy crappy systemless fighter + good free system = lazy fighter that wins fights somehow as a mage, guardian, and bard.

This depends. If you are talking about 1-on-1, then I echo what everyone else is saying about a good system. If you're talking about group fights (the majority of Lusty fights), I would say a good offense is more important. For groups, you really only need a modest system and a good understanding of how combat works. Krellan is a good example of someone who understands combat, has no system (to speak of), and a good offense.

1. Good connection (I lag so badly I can barely harvest).
2. Own personal skill and experience.
3. System.
