The Soulforge Lives!

Back to Common Grounds.

I just want to thank the admin for this event.. I've worked tirelessly since it ended to get the Soulforge back up and running, and it was a blast. I love lore, and I think it has a lot of neat little sidestories.

It's got some very frustrating parts and there've been some bugs with how Melpith and Etilla work and such, but it was worthwhile... So without further ado, the Dirigible of Doom.

And it's also got the coolest honours line in the game, thusfar tongue.gif

QUOTE
put organ in soulforge

You put a strange fibrous organ into the Soulforge.

Tendrils from a strange fibrous organ reach out toward the skin of the Soulforge and attach themselves. The Soulforge expands slightly, then returns to its normal shape, as if taking a deep breath.
Your karma rises in response to your deeds.
You gain a new honour!
Ixion tells you, "You win."

The Soulforge begins to roar and expand, gases spewing out of it as it undulates in size.

Wanda Murkle exclaims, "Well done, stranger! This be the day I be long waiting for!! Now we need but wait for the Gibbous moon!"
Wanda Murkle hands you a large sack of gold and stares rapturously at the Soulforge.

Lord General Visaeris Mae'loch, Morgfyre's Fury (Male Undead Krokani Changeling).
He is 111 years old, having been born on the 25th of Estar, 84 years after the Coming of Estarra.
He is ranked 46th in Lusternia.
He has triumphed 1 time in the combat rankings.
He is an extremely credible character.
He is a Marquis in the Mighty Dominion of Magnagora.
He is a mentor and able to take on proteges.
His motto: 'And I knew it wasn't right, but it felt so good.'
He is considered to be approximately equal to your might.
He is not currently active in any family.
He resurrected the Soulforge to reign terror upon the world once again.

The Soulforge rises higher into the air, roaring louder and puffing out hot streams of gas as it glows with an unnatural light. Crackling energy shoots out from the ground and shoots through the Soulforge.

The Soulforge flies up with great speed, floating out of the well and up toward the dome above, getting smaller as its roaring continues to increase.

You shout, "BEHOLD."

The Soulforge stops and hovers right above the broken dome, crackling with energy.

A flash of lightning snakes through the area, followed by the slightly burnt scent of crackling energy.

You shout, "My thanks to the Celestians for their assistance in my endeavour. It lives!"

Flying above a crumbling dome.
The Soulforge floats here as a massive round construct of skin and bones, streams of gas escaping from its glowing and bloated body that crackles with unnerving energy.
You see exits leading north (open door), west (open door), and down.

Finely sewn amphibian skin covers this enormous, round construct, stretched to its limits around the hard cage ribbing that can be seen beneath the gas-filled flesh. The skin is thick and patterned, with a series of small sharp spikes sticking through it around the diameter of the construct. Two glowing circles stare brightly from the upper portion of the Soulforge, looking eeriely like eyes upon a living creature. On the other side of the construct, a tiny opening gives an uninformative glimpse into the sphere's brightened depths as a small stream of heated gas continually escapes from it, crackling with unnerving energy.
It weighs about 250 pounds.
The Soulforge is holding:
Nothing.

(DisOrder) Morgfyre says, "Of course, to be fair, if Great Muud breaks loose I will kick your ass."

Valaria has declared you a formal enemy of the Collective of Serenwilde.

Yada yada.

How much gold did she give you? That's the interesting part.

20k and at least 60% karma.

The 20k's really a minor point compared ot the amount of energy I put into it. It was the thrill of the thing, man. Crow2.0, I tell ya.

Edit: Amusingly enough, length aside, there are deeper parallels. The ease of the counterquest compared to the difficult of the creation quest.. Easily interrupted creation quest... Moonphases. Heh. It really is the Crow quest all over, in many ways. it's hideously easy to drop the soulforge, as it stands.
Zacc2008-01-07 20:14:43
I'm sure we'd all be able to complete a quest like that if we stood there and triggered to pick up a quest item as soon as it dropped.

Admin, please make the organ appear in the hands of the person that slays the creature.
Xenthos2008-01-07 20:15:42
Why did you cut out the (DisOrder) part? It was neater that way.
Ilyarin2008-01-07 20:17:24
Because he didn't want people to know he's in Morgfyre's (dis)order, I guess.
Ialie2008-01-07 20:18:41
If it drains the city nexus why would someone from the city complete this quest?

Dude, that was the awesome part. If you didn't notice a Ninja in the room, your own fault!

But if it irks you so much, why don't you do the counterquest? Right now I am the only guy running around in Duum.

It's pretty common knowledge, though. I mean, he's even posted about Order stuff before.
Rika2008-01-07 20:20:57
OOCly, I'm pretty annoyed that you managed to get the organ. But it was more annoyance at my stupidity than your IC idiocy. tongue.gif
Ilyarin2008-01-07 20:21:38
Maybe he's just pernickety, though I do think it looked better with the channel tag. chin.gif

I think there's more to it than that, and Visaeris is all about experimenting and attempting to glean value from things that would otherwise appear useless.

The concepts behind Soulforge make it an interesting proposition. It's a furthering of Vis' RP and persona.

I didn't. Guess it got lost in the shuffle when I edited. Who knows. Will fix

Sure! There's just the little problem of not having 5000+ health and titan/demigod criticals.

The main quest took hours from countless people. Ixion spent a good hour working it with me, Daevos probably clocked in at two or three, Vathael an hour, Synl, Pentu, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

This is not something I solo'd because I've got a ton of hp and lots of crits. It took a long time to make it happen, and many failed attempts.

The counterquest is infinitely easier.

Right now they are about Krokani strength, but they defend each other. But they also move. So eh, sure. Don't try at all. It's the better way to complain on the forums later!

Example:
11882h, 3910m, 7590e, 10p, 36766en, 23400w elrk /21:18:21.781/<>-

A hooded woman balls up her fist and punches you in the nose.
11708h, 3889m, 7590e, 10p, 36766en, 23396w elrk /21:18:22.109/<>-

Lolol.

10993h, 3910m, 7590e, 10p, 36743en, 23400w elrxk /21:18:01.062/<>-
cleave man

Screaming in rage, a hooded woman kicks you with all her might.
10823h, 3910m, 7590e, 10p, 36743en, 23400w elrxk /21:18:01.265/<>-

woo

So, the solution: Check all informations. Freshly raised soulforge = sucky men/women.
Myndaen2008-01-07 20:33:19
Just because I can't log in at the moment... Excluding the substantial effects (on city power, for example), what does raising the Soulforge -do-? Kills innocent men and women? Warps nature? Why did Seren enemy you?
Zacc2008-01-07 20:33:40
I'm refering to the new plane. The creatures there are overly strong. It's just as easy to destroy the Soulforge as it is to raise it. It took quite a bit of time to finally destroy it, and it took Celest, Serenwilde, and Glomdoring to do it.
Ashteru2008-01-07 20:37:29
It would probably take about six or seven people for that part. The first part is doable alone, though.

Because Rika cried, I think. Donno, I'll talk to Zia. tongue.gif

And again, we don't know what the Soulforge will do now. It did XYZ during the event, but the effects are yet to be seen. This is a valid IC stance too because Estarra shouted about how Muud was contained and they could handle him in the future

Lol. No I didn't. Someone asked if you should be enemied, and about three other people all said yes.
