Wow. That Seren84 person is weird! I mean, who really expects anything serious from the 'Hi, how are you?' question when you're just talking to someone for the first time? It's not really meant to ask for deep inner thoughts and feelings, it's just part of the greeting custom.

See, I'd disagree with the 'how are you?' just being part of greeting custom. It would be weird if someone said that and no answer was given. Sure, you give a short answer like "I'm a bit tired, but I'm well" or "Working really hard at the moment", or maybe you just lie to all those but your closest friends and just blanket-respond "I'm good". Still, I'd feel really rude to ignore a direct enquiry about how I am.

Yeah what a total d-bag! I was on skype once without realizing it and some creepster tried calling me.

I find it weird for people who have never spoken to me before to ask how I am. They should first introduce themselves or give me a reason as to why they are speaking to me.

I kind of waited till someone brings up that Seren could be Ceren... of well, no fun today.
And... that's why I keep skype in invisible mode. Though I only speak with people from who have given me their account names and who I find interesting/nice/whatever reason I can use to justify that.
