I finally decided to give it a shot, so I installed CMUD on my gateway laptop. I got it installed and took a look around at a few things - everything looks really nice, except for one small problem.
Any time CMUD is open, it applies the FN key constantly. It's almost like a FN LOCK is somehow set when CMUD is open. If I try typing, I end up getting numbers with my right hand instead (since the FN key turns those letters into a number pad). All of the characters type their FN counterparts instead of the normal characters. I can push the function key and hold it down to get back to letters again.
The most bizarre part is that it doesn't just happen within CMUD. If I open CMUD then try to type in Notepad or anything else, the same problem occurs. Close CMUD, everything is fine.
Has anyone else come across similar bizarre problems, or have any idea what might be going on?

I run cmud on a lap top. Never ran into such problems.

Works fine for me. I do remember having problems with CMud macros overriding my coded macros and I had to hunt around in the settings to fix it. Look around in the settings and see if there is an option for that?

I don't think it is related to macros. It only causes a problem for function characters, and it happens in all applications any time CMUD is open.

It's a Gateway running Vista. I've tried with admin mode and without, with UAC on and off. All the same.
I am looking now to see if there is an update to my keyboard drivers for Vista, but I doubt that is it either. My keyboard works perfectly the rest of the time, just not when CMUD is open.

Did you disable the Auto NumLock feature in your CMUD preferences? There's a post in the CMUD forum that you might be interested in...

I just found that preference after Daganev's post. That did seem to be the problem; numlock is a pain for laptops.
Thanks!
