I declare one of the following should be added!!!
1) Ranged Physical Damage Dealers (Archers)
2) Heavy Physical Damage Dealers (Either pump up warriors or... something?)
I really think archers would be a cool concept for some reason, probably because I'm a dork and because Mages and Druids aren't doing it for me.
Come on, could you imagine this??
Then others, like at the Moonhart Mother Tree, could have a message like:
You catch a glimpse of an arrow zooming past your location.
Then for Xiran, it could be like:
You jerk backwards as a wooden arrow pierces into your left arm.
Jardin could see:
Xiran jerks slightly as a wooden arrow pierces into her left arm.
Then if she uses WOUNDS, she'd maybe see something...
Then she'd be could apply health to the wound, but it won't go away until she REMOVEs the ARROW from her LEFT ARM.
ala REMOVE ARROW FROM LEFT ARM
Maybe they'd have a certain percentage chance of getting stuck? And that'd be the only indefinite way to stop the bleeding?
But why stop there?
Maybe you could apply frost and fire to the arrows to cause shivering and being ablaze?
I don't know... I really like the idea of archers!
Maybe a basic wooden arrow would be a skill in in ARTS WOODCRAFT while the better arrows would be in ARTS IRONCRAFT or for forging? And bows could be made by Artisans? Maybe?
Probably a lame idea... yeah... okay... I'll crawl back into my whole.

Archers would be kinda crappy here I think, although the idea is cool.
Buffed up damage warriors is what warriors used to be until precision made them rely mainly on wounding. And after the giant cries last year for pre-nerf weapons to be taken away. I seriously doubt anyone will want to see what Geb or Lisarel could do as a damage specialist warrior (like the old warriors used to be)

But the closest thing we have to physical ranged is Ninjakari, and that's pretty much just the blowgun skill, I think...
How could we get more esoteric magic-types? We already have "summoners" (Guardians and Wiccans)

Ranged is mages and druids with rune, cudgel, staff, dreamweaving in a sense, the whole demesne mechanic to an extent, and fetishes. Don't get much more ranged than that.
Esoteric just means not as widely known, basically. Psionics is more esoteric than magic as far as mainstream fantasy is concerned, and there are concepts yet more esoteric than psionics, like say...sympathetic magic, or even something truly unique to Lusternia like a power-channeler.
We've already gotten most of the decent non-esoteric archetypes that fit in the IRE framework without too much overlap with existing classes.

actually, i think it's a decent idea.. i can remember from imperian, exploding arrows and such.. just come up with some skill sets, make enchanters able to enchant arrows

No on ranged combatants, plz. Druids and mages could be considered ranged attacks, but not to the extent that archers could be made into. The day when ranged attacks which extend to entire area effects rather than line of sights, come about in Lusternia would be the day that it starts to slowly degenerate into Achaea where raid defense/offense hinged upon a good ranged squad. And no, Rage/Terror covens aren't nearly as bad as Achaean kai monks since covens are limited by night time, an indoors location, and shielding among other things.

It's not completely ranged. The "range" is the direction you put it. So if someone's in a room to the NW and you aim at them and shoot the arrow NE, it's not going to hit them.

Which could just as easily turn into someone shooting into the air with an arrow in coordination with 5 other archers not unlike the covens I mentioned but with less limitations. But alas, I'm just airing out my opinions about ranged combat. I <3 the fact that it's pretty much up-close conflict here.
