I was thinking when you try to mount something not loyal to you... well you can't.

So perhaps a way to train your pet/mount to recognise some allies (up to 5?) so when you are away, they can still mount it.

Not going to happen. Better for the economy if everyone buys their own mounts and pets. Plus, my eagle doesn't stay around very long before he jumps back into my inventory...

But in all seriousness, I have to agree with Zarquan, this is the same kind of thing as trying to lend artys for long periods.

I also agree you should be able to have a way to make the mount return but not have it return randomly.
