This one's horrible. Usually after a fight I pore over the log and figure out what went wrong, what I did right.. what were my thoughts when I cast that spell, etc.. etc.. usually, I do this two to three times in case I missed something
But this "duel" was just too horrible for me.. I forgot to put up hypnoticpattern/rainbowpatter/flare when it fell and much worse -- I did remember to cast maelstrom but forgot to reject him when I got hit by the love potion..
Although I managed to preserve my song until the bitter end..
Horrible, I have not reviewed this after the initial one..

Ok, I did better in here. I defeated Xedrik, Ruiku, and finally by luck - Narsrim.
BUT -- the same problem again surfaced -- You think after all those large signs I put to help me remember I would.. but noooooo, It continously escapes my mind.. I allow my song to fade away, and the glamours to dissipate. Although in the end when I did remember to put it(hypnotic/rainbow/flare/fascinate) back up, it signaled the beginning of the end for them..
People has been learning to cure my manabarbs/egovice's and so I decided to incorporate the other two barbs recently -- this is the first time I succesfully used acromatic aura and powerspike.. and in the end it was what killed him. i.e. "Purple flames shoot out of Ruiku's eyes as his head explodes".
(I'm curious, I think Ruiku tried numen or trueheal when he had the barbs)
As for the fight with Narsrim - yay for nightshadeblues+bloodycaps+manabarbs+egovice+octave+minorsixth
3. Just some rumination: In search of the perfect offense
Knowing what to do and actually doing it are two separate things. The big thing with bards is you have to keep truehearing and secondsight down as much as you can.. And the strategy I'm practicing requires I try to unbalance with glamours/webs/songs, and ultimately be able to stick octave sometime and pound with the barbs.. its pretty simple as far as concepts goes, but its a thing of beauty when I'm able to pull it off.. however, certain problems keep appearing over and over again..
1. I forget to put glamours back up. i.e. hypnotic, rainbow, flare
2. I sometimes allow my song to fade away when i think the kill is near and I get impatient: problem is - if the opp escapes, my offense is crippled by a large degree.
3. Missing attacks on balance, doing two blanknotes, etc.. etc..
I realize these things but I just keep doing them over and over again.. darnit.. when will I learn..
The ideal scenario is -- No movements should be wasted, each attack flowing into the next..
Will I ever attain such a state of "reverberating harmonic unity"? One can only hope..

Your determination to do well is admirable. Also, you are correct that knowing what to do, and actually doing it are two separate things. I can empathize with the frustration you may have with yourself, when you know what actions to perform but do not perform them effectively. I guess only with practice can knowing become the same as doing, which you seem to be well on your way towards. Keep it up, and show the rest of us the true potential of the archetype.
