Where do gold sovereigns come from?
Arvont2008-02-13 10:13:29
Please don't ask such questions. It's like...like asking where babies come from.
Actually, where do gold sovereigns come from???

the dwarves make them

It's quite the mystery.
There are rumors though.
I've heard tell that Revan poops them out every new Roarkian. From there, they trickle through economic veins of the world, eventually reaching every sentient being in the basin.

They're the stomach stones of various animals. How else do you think you find gold when you kill a sheep?
Unknown2008-02-13 13:19:25
Manifestations must have huge and problematic stomachs.

It's actually a vital part of any fantasy world ecosystem. An adventurer goes off, equipped with various weapons and armours, to fight your standard, fantasy type monster. The monster eats the adventurer, and consuming their belongings, which are packed full of monster nutrients. The waste material is then reduced to small deposits of gold and ejected from the body, it being a well known fact that monster metabolisms have no use for, and indeed, cannot digest gold.
In other words, monsters eat gear and poop gold.
Circle of life... circle of life.

I found myself asking the same question as I played NWN this morning. Who the frack leaves 3 gold pieces sitting in a crate at the bottom of the stairs in a storeroom infested by giant fire beetles?

I recently found $5 at the bottom of a pile of shoes in my closet....

So they're not gold coins. They're gold pieces. Hoo boy.
